so i finally painted it! it's only my third color oil painting (and the first I've actually completed), so I'm still learning along the way :] you can probably tell i rushed the background at like 6am before class lol. whatevs.oil on canvas 18x24 inches

I simply adore the dark contrast with her hair and clothing against the light background. I'm used to seeing a dark background and light subject, so this is very refreshing.
I also love the "bluntness." It's not softened or made to look gentler than it is. If that's the effect you were going for, and judging by your title - it is, I think you really achieved it.
