Oh my gosh, all of your artwork is so amazing
This is most likely obvious, but is SAI an art program?

Thank you for your tutorials It's just difficult cause there are no given settings on what tools to use etc. But I managed to get an ideal.

Although pretty, this is not a tutorial. This is not informative or helpful at all. I can't magically see what brush, technique or opacity you're using. I am so tired of artists trying to earn moreΒ page views, favorites or whatever by handing these things out to their fans Call me mean if you want to, but it's true.Β

I'm not gonna say you're being mean, but I do think you're being rude...
Artists are not obligated to show you progress works or tutorials, so if they do, I believe it's nice of them.
They show how they work, give inspiration to use it in your art and that all for free!
Besides, it's not like you have to copy another artist's style, just make your own! There are enough tips you can get from this deviation in how to draw an eye. (coloring, where to put shadows, ways to highlight, etc.)
I'm not trying to be mean to you either, this is just how i view it. (;

Tailnin In reply to xMaiki [2013-07-25 22:13:34 +0000 UTC]
(Not being mean to you or ryky here) The definition of a tutorial is something that provides special, often individual instruction... So i don't reallyΒ think i'm being rude for pointing out that this isn't one and it's unfair of the artist to call it one :/Β
So it's not that i dislike ryky's drawings (they're amazing) ,'i just think that he could rename his "tutorials" to something else, but then again, something else would give him less views.Β I don't know if that was intended or not, i can't ask him personally.Β
You are right, it's just that i'm curious what brushes i should use to make Β eye sparkles and such since i'm new to photoshop.Β But i'll look for a tutorial that actually can provide information for a newb like me.
Β

well i do agree with you that this is not an actual tutorial!
it's just progress shots, so I totally agree with you on that point.
but I didn't find you rude for pointing out it's not really a tutorial,
it was just that your message came across to me like 'this isn't helpful at all, you should make something that is more helpful'. so to me it sounded rude and demanding,
but now i see you didn't mean it like that and i shouldn't have jumped to conclusions, i'm sorry for that.
good luck with practicing and finding a tutorial that you can learn from

yayy (:
i really like good arguments (not fights) on the internet, where you really get to see the other person's view and reasoning, and you can actually understand them and they try to understand you. i'm glad more people like that too, because a lot of people just almost "fight" through the internet and just shout arguments that don't make sense
thanks for pointing it out ^^

Wow. This conversation made my day. I've had countless conversations with people who end up calling me rather insulting names for simply trying to explain my point. One time I started by thanking someone for a fave and they ended up calling me a "sarcastic bitch". 0_o

May I just say thank you sooooo much for providing this. I'm doing eyes for a mentorship class and every time I tried to sketch it out, it ended up horribly bad but after I took a look at this and redid mine in grayscale using the same tip you gave here, it looked better than I originally sketched it. So thank you for providing your wisdom and step by step method.
