Oooh these are lovely; I definitely agree with some of the earlier comments about hand proportions, but I think you captured the light through the skin tones quite realistically. Keep up the good work!

Lovely rendering/colors! And the poses are pretty spot on, too.
I did some hand studies for this as well but didn't bother scanning them -- too messy. Now I'm wishing I'd taken them farther!

oh, you did yours traditionally? that's awesome!
I do most things digitally, not really used to working with paper beyond pencil sketching lol

I agree with both hollyfaith and lancelotrichardson , you did a really nice job on both their points. All of these hands read very well, but I am a bit confused by the one on the upper left. I cannot tell if what appears to be the pinkie finger is is being foreshortened, or if it's just drastically shorter than the rest of the fingers. How the blade of the hand is then illustrated to be very plump and arched also perplexes my eye, and the knuckle feels too large. Hopefully that didn't sound too judgmental, especially of the reference you may have used, haha. Of all of the hands though, I feel that one is strange to look at. Otherwise you did a bang-up job on the light coming through the thinner areas of skin, and you chose interesting poses!

That's actually the thumb lol
It was the first one I did and apparently didn't work enough on the edge to make it readable.
I hope the later ones were better, and at least I learned a lot about light transfer on the body. Still got a bit of studies to do on skintone, which I will get to soon.
Thank you for the detailed comment

You are most welcome, and thank you for clearing that up. The first ones of studies and the like are usually the slightly shaky ones, at least as I've discovered in my experience, but the rest of them, as I said, are bang on. Hopefully you are equally successful in your other studies of skintone. Thank you, also, for the +watch, I wasn't expecting it. Cheers!

Yeah, in most studies I usually don't post the first one because it looks like crap, but I thought this one looked a bit decent at least, though I did get a lot of smack on facebook because, like you, not a lot of people figure it out
Your stuff is awesome, you deserve a lot more watches

Ah, haha, that can happen sometimes, hopefully it wasn't too bad of a smack-down though. I know I sometimes feel apprehensive about sharing studies or simpler, loose sketches because people won't understand them or find them lacking in some way, but, hey, the studies are for your own improvement, which is important. And thank you, that's very kind of you to say. I'm planning to start uploading some sketch dumps soon because I haven't had a lot of time for more fleshed out work, so hopefully that'll keep people around. -chuckles-

Great study, you got the skin tones down really well! I like how clearly they show the difference between the palm and the back of the hand.Β
