shot taken by me earlier today (03.13.04) I changed it up just a little bit,I took my time on this,unlike most of my work that I kinda throw together

Four years later, still very interesting. I think the contrast of golden honey colors against chill serene blues is what does it, though composition and abstraction helps.
A question: is this a heavily manipulated photograph, slightly manipulated photograph, or so manipulated that it can't be constituted a photograph (by YOUR evaluation) any longer? I'm only curious what you think.

thinking back, its not that manipulated, its a wine glass(as the lower part is the steam and base). the flash caused all the whiteness at the bottom, I think I adjusted the contrast and brightness some but nothing was cut/pasted or moved

I was curious, because it does look like very good photography and not digital manipulation. I'd consider that deserving of the photography category, thus some confusion when I read it was digital media > photomanip. Contrast/brightness adjustments are too little of a manipulation compared to the simple talent of the photo. You did a very good job with it.

Again, something different - I love something different.
The utter detail in this is great, along with the lighting and the 'cleanness' of the background.
The detail of the dish soap in the glass is great, the coloring is wonderful.
The focus and position of the main object is perfect, no detail lost and no where else to wander.
I get a bit of a fresh clean feeling from this, and I love the blue coloring of the background. So smooth.
Nice simple black border here, which draws in your attention to the main object. I COULD see a white border around this (with a thin black border at the edge of the picture before going onto the white border), but I think either is fine - you have done a good job.
The only thing I might point out is that, the bit where the dish soap seems to "drip" down, the lighting there makes it a bit too bright. A bit too yellow and artificial.. and you start to loose quality/detail at the bottom point of that 'drip'.
In either case, this is a great shot, different and unique, with a great idea going for it.

very interesting shot....i just looked at it for a long time because it was confusing me and intriguing me at the same time.....at first it struck me as being very abstract and i was seeing all sorts of possible images and things it could be and then i came to realize that it was a glass with liquid in it....nicely done. I also think the stem adds to it because it draws the eye around the piece so that it doesnt just stick on the main image but is attracted to those shadings and color variations along the edges. Nice focus as well capturing those bubbles. well done, keep up the good work.

Wow. That's creative. At first I thought it was some kind of tree sap dripping, but upon closer inspection I saw a glass was holding it. Which just gives it a new dimension, as if we were drinking the fruits of thy WOMB. Or something to that effect.
The effect you've created here is this rich, glutinous substance that somehow looks really surreal from that angle.

excellent shot-- The complementary colors add so much to the piece. Great detail--yet simple enough to keep the viewer's eye focused.

I had no idea until it was loaded. WOW!! that's a great shot. I like the angle, the light, and the simplicity of it. Is it on a lightbox or did you do that in photoshop? Not to pick but the glass looks like it might have a water spot on it, could be a reflection though.
