The Scultumbra (commonly referred to as Ghosts) are technologically modified creatures that consume the Ether. By processing and injecting the Ether into themselves, they are able to increase their speed and reaction time. Unfortunately their senses are also heightened which can lead to them being overwhelmed in certain environments. To prevent this, they are equipped with a mask and sensory deprivation equipment.
Because of the nature of Ether, by consuming it they are slightly out of tune with the world. This leads to a slight transparency as well as loss with some of the higher functions in the brain, hence their nickname “Ghosts”.
The marks on their thigh are a mystery to many. Some speculate it's a symbol of power that allows them to harness magic. Others believe it is a branding, much like cattle. Few know where these ghosts originate
