Description
It is finally done, sorry it took a while, but I hope that it was worth the long wait! Also, I have decided to now include short stories with my scenes in hopes that I could weave a small universe out my art, I hope you guys enjoy them!
So, without further ado:
***
PLANET “GATI III” - 0130 STD HOURS.
This once beautiful planet of grass plains and peaceful people was decimated to ashes by a merciless and desperate attack of the enemy in one more of their everlasting attempts to break into the boundaries of our Empire. However, this time, their attack was different as they attacked a system that was deemed a no-fire zone, as its inhabitants do not condone the use of armed combat and have opted for pursuing commerce, art, and the beautification of their system as a thriving part of the Empire. They were defenseless and hopeless against the brute of the enemy’s invasion.
Outraged at this act of cold-blooded carnage and murder, Fleet Command dispatched the dreaded 33rd Elite Legion, renown for its flawless planetary assaults and use of heavy weaponry, with clear orders:
“Rid the Gati system of all enemy presence, using all means necessary.”
It was odd how the 33rd Legion emerged from hyperspace undetected. Afterwards it became evident that this had been a desperate and frantic attack by the enemy, as they had not bothered to deploy even an early-warning satellite, there was nothing in space, all of the enemy’s assets were on the three planets of this beautiful system. Their carelessness was impressive, as the 33rd Fleet’s flagship, a gigantic Carrier, emerged unnoticed.
Calmly, The fleet re-grouped and then preceded to launch swarms of landing craft, full of men, machinery, equipment, all of the ingredients necessary for a bloody and perfect payback on the enemy’s rear flanks rearming and refueling at GATI III. The counterattack will be as cold-blooded as the enemy itself.
As soon as the whole Legion had landed and deployed, it proceeded to split into many battalions and moved on towards enemy positions.
Near the destroyed city of Anburg, battalion Gamma was the first to reach enemy presence, a massed formation of troops and vehicles stationed at the far side of the smoldering city. Several Cheetahs were dispatched to pinpoint the exact locations of the enemy so that the several support squadrons of Firebreathers on the rear flanks could begin their apocalyptic barrages.
In no time, thunderous blasts shock the ground and soon thereafter the nebulae-adorned night sky was filled with the long and white energy arches of the flying shells… The artillery had begun its assault.

Very nice scene! Loves the design of the howitzers, it's really a powerful look that you have given them. And also that it's a battery that's firing and not single peices gives a cool effect.

Hello,
The idea and the composition of your pic is good and there is a good feeling of mouvement !
But there is few points than can be modified to obtain a more powerful and "real" image.
- Add some bump (steel panels and bots) and some dirt to the vehicles will give them a more realistic look.
- Add a second light, dimmer that the main, nearly opposed to the main, to light the (too more) shaded zone and simulate the ambiant light repercissioned by the admosphère. The color sould be dark-blue or dark-red to be in accordance with your background.
- Add some depth of field. Yours fog and dust clouds already give a sensation of depth but a little depth of field in addition will be more powerful.
The idea of your image, the elements, the camera orientation, etc... are already good to make a great image. It only need some technical adjustements (like above) to give it live and woahh!!!! effect.

Nice idea and composition. There is a good feeling of mouvement too, but there is one or two things that can give a more dynamic and réalisatic feeling to this picture :
- Give some bump effect to the vehicles texture to simulate some steel panels, bolts etc ... and to have a lesser clean look.
- Place another light, dimmer than the principal ligth that will light the (too more) shadowed zones and so simulate the ambiant (repercussionned by the admosphere) light. This light should be dark-blue or red-blue to be in accordance with your sky color.
- Give some depth of field to have a feeling of more depthene. Your fog and dust clouds lready give this sensation, but some depth of field will be more efficient.
Your image already got the elements (composition, idea, camera orientation) that make a good picture. You just need to make some "technical" adjustement to put it higher and give it some life.

Thank you so much, I am very happy that you liked the piece, and now that I see it, it is true that it needs those "technical" improvements...
Thanks for the support, and I'll keep all those things in mind for my next scene, however, if you don't mind me asking a question... I WANTED to do those mappings on the vehicles so they could look battle-worn, but I never found the way... Any help on this?
Thanks again for the support, I really appreciate it!

Hello,
Here some ideas for the vehicle mapping :
THE LONG WAY:
MAPS : take some screen-shots of your vehicle model from top, bottom, left, right, face, back.
- Import each screen-shot in a drawing software like photoshop and use it to draw on another layer, some steel plates and some bolts. for this you can use some textures or photos and you will have your color map.
- duplicate this layer, turn it in black and trick levels to obtain a bump map ot plates and bolts.
- take some texture or photos of damaged steel on another layer above your color map and modify it to have a look of scratched texture.
- When you are happy with your scratches, duplicate this layer, turn it in black and white and you have your scrtach bump map-
- do the same with some dirt and dust layers.
- save an image with colors map layers and another with bump map layers.
-use theses two layer as texture for color and bump chanels on differents parts of your model in function of the side of the vehicle.
-If you can "bake" the surface whole of the vehicle in your 3D software and obtain a texture that can be use used as an unique UV texture all the wotk above can be done on only one design and not side by side.
- In your specular, glossiness, reflection channels, use some procedurail texture or fractal black and white image to an non-uniform diffuse effect.
THE SHORT WAY :
- take some texture of steel plate, damaged steel with their bump image and use it directly to texture your model.
In first place the steel plate texture in color chanel, manipulate it until your are happy with the effect. Then add the damaged steel texture manipulate it. Then add some procedurial or fractable texture to simulate the dirt.
- In the bump channel place the bump images in the same order, with the same parameters of sizes.
- In your specular, glossiness, reflection channels, use some procedurail texture or fractal black and white image to an non-uniform diffuse effect.
The short way is faster to use than the long way, but with a less precise and "fit to details" effect.

I am happy to hear that you're sorry for what you did and I am even happier to find out that you didn't really do it on purpose in order to get pageviews. Once I saw a case where this dude stole a Daily Deviation in order to get pageviews. Go figure...
Anyway, if by backgrounds you mean desktop wallpapers, I haven't REALLY thought about doing them. however, I do use my own works (like this one) as my desktop wallpapers for a while. So, before I let you use it, let me know what you mean by backgrounds and then wel'll see...
As far as my work, I always enjoy making 3D, always, lol, I mean, if I didn't enjoy it I wouldn't be really making any would I now? lol.
I am glad that you've liked my work, and I am also very happy that you didn't do what you did on purpose and that you're sorry, as I said, I'll sure let the deviant know that you are.

Awesome render! Sorry I'm a couple days late - some issues came up.
Anyway, onto the fun part.
I really see you implemented the suggestions I had and the improvements are very visible. With the smoke lighting - it has a more realistic look to it. I also like how the fires almost look like their own battle, so that the attention to detail is not just fixated on the main vehicles. The lasers that are shooting out are a nice touch as well.
All the detail that you have here makes this image fun to look at - every time I go back, there is something new to spot, from the dust particles that your Hellbringers are stirring up, to the lens flare. This may be the first time in awhile, I have seen a flare used so that it doesn't distract from the image as a whole, as you have it dubbed at the right level to help the image.
The land textures are also very well played in this - they fit the environment, as well as the situation. I would say that with the sky and other natural effects, that the atmosphere of the image and the tension are well implemented.
I'm looking at the ATH and HAS vehicles and applaud their placements onto the field. With the shadows to show where they actually are, there isn't confusion, on if they would be colliding.
I do notice on some areas of the image though, that there is pixilation. I'm not sure if you did that on purpose, but when doing the print, you should do your best to avoid the jagged edges.
A small concern - the lighting - I was looking at the HAS closest to the camera, and wonder where the shadow of the cannon is supposed to fall. I'm looking at the other vehicles and se sometimes you can see the turret shadow, and in others, not. It may just be me, for I know most 3D modeling programs automatically calculate where the shadow should fall for each object.

No problem you were late, for a comment like this, take your time!!!
Well... Most of your paragraphs were saying good things about my piece, so I am very happy I actually impressed you so much!
As for your concern yeah, I had a lot of trouble getting the right shadows, but after much and much trying I couldnt get them... I think it is because of old hard to correct mistakes that I made at the very begining of this.
Well... Once again, thank you so much for all of your support, I really appreciate it!

Thats EXACTLY how I imagined it was going to be ! I mean every detail like smoke, fire, dust, beams, etc... everything looks so well, and the ships moving like that make it look like a videogame or a movie! BTW I particulary liked that u used diferent ships, its more dinamic and realistic. The perspective is definitely the right one, the foreground, midground and background of the image are really well defined.
It was WORTH the wait !
And that little story was the perfect final touch, u r right, it creates a small universe of your own

If I wasn't smack bang in the middle of europe and had paypal I'd buy the print. Come to think of it... hmm...
And the arrows quote is a reference to my favourite warhammer fantasy battle army, the Tomb Kings. They often use that tactic. Shoot the hell out of anything and everything.
