Thank you so much dude, greatly appreciated it. This piece is quite old tho, it got "reposted" cuz i made it avaliable for print...
By the way, I wanted to tell you that I hope you don't start to dislike me for the "argument" we are having elsewhere... It's pure friendly to me and I intend no offence with it, ok?
Just making sure...

Haha! Absolutly no worries! Was as friendly from me aswell dude. Trust me, as much as I personaly have distaste for religion, I am, above all open minded. And, I enjoy a good arguement.

This is pretty good, I like it . The models are done nicely, and the blurs and composition are well done. The only complains I have are that the sky kinda looks like its dark in some areas and light in others, kind of distracting. And the water has alot of white dots in it. The lens flares could also be toned down a bit. Overall, a very nice piece I like enough to fav

Thank you very much again for the comments, encouragements and observations!
I know this piece has some errors, as it was the first scene I've ever done, and eventhough I am not going to revisit it to make corrections, I still thank you on your observations as they will help me later.
The surface is not water, it is ice, thus the white speckles of minerals or things of the sort.
Thank you again for the comments, and specially for the fav!

This is also excellent. Good production quality. I do think though that the ice could use some more refinement. It's easy to spot the standard noise map here. But the specular qualities are really good. Lens effects are great. And so are the models!
Might want to try playing with DOF? It'd push the motion blur even furthur and I think give just that extra bit of excitement off...almost like you're a lone enemy soldier that came across this advance of the AHTs and can't believe his eyes.

That's a nice comment and suggestions you have brought up, thank you!
It would be cool for me to revisit this and add all the cool stuff people like you suggest, but with the render time of 14 hours... That really turns me off from doing it you know... So, unfortunately, I'll just keep it like this.

Dusky-Hawk In reply to s2f [2004-12-07 19:55:42 +0000 UTC]
Keep up the unique angles; don't do the standard head on, side or top shots unless you have something to compound it. I would suggest in a future render, when you want to incorperate many more of your models, that you do something that is at least 2000x2000, so that you can have a LOT of eye candy for the viewer to look at. I think a type of picture that would give you a long-term project would be one that starts off at a planet's surface with some sort of battle going on, then extends to the sky line, then to outter space. Each could have it's own unique elements, coupled with beautiful natural phenomena. I realize something of that magnitude would require months of work, but the end result would be an image that would blow everyone away. I could find an example of this if I looked around.

s2f In reply to Dusky-Hawk [2004-12-08 13:53:23 +0000 UTC]
Yes, it would, something that big will take forever, but you know, I would do it, and you know when? When I'm done with all of the ground stuff I'm working on, I bet you I'll be so exited that I will have no problem on taking months to do such a thing.
But you know, I have no idea to do that super wide angle, I've seen it and I have no idea how people do it, do you know how?
But you know, now that I think about it, something of that magnitude will also requiere a machine of that magniture, I believe the people who do that have a top-notch rig with renderslaves and everything. I just have a mid-level system... But if anything, I can still try, I don't really like to have things throw me down and step on me.
On another note, the MiG-3 You suggested, do you wish to do it a collab with me?

Dusky-Hawk In reply to s2f [2004-12-09 22:49:20 +0000 UTC]
I have a feeling it has to do with how they capture the image angle in their program. Maybe they do multipule renders and merge them. Sure they use 3-4 different rendering programs to acheive their goals with touchups in PS7 or a program like it.
Well, as much as I hate to admit it, if you really wanted a graphics system, buy a Mac, but just for some renders, I don't think it would be worth it. I am not a Mac-fan, but whatever floats people's boats, I always say.
For the MiG-3, how do you want to do a collab? I am no where near your level in Bryce, and won't be for a long period of time.

s2f In reply to Dusky-Hawk [2004-12-09 23:49:57 +0000 UTC]
I hate macs too, but they are the best for graphics, thankfully I have been using macs for almost 2 years now (in school, computer graphics class) so I am familiar around mac OS X.
I also figured out that that was the way people do those large renders... They way I figured (might be wrong) is that they place a camera, render, tilt the camera up, render, tilt the camera up, render... And so on, then they, like you said, go on PS and blend it in... The immensity of the scene that I would have to create in Max will rape my comp... But I am willing to give it a shot... Perhaps for X-Mas break...
What I mean for the collab... Hmmm... How far into Bryce are you nowadays? If you're not that into it yet, then perhaps I could do the modeling, and you can tweak it (since you know much more about the details of the MiG-3, and then we could work on the mappings.) I, don't really know, you know how I do, but I am not sure about you, so let me know if you have any ideas ...

I had to work with a Mac when I was in English class, but I had such bad luck with the damn thing I made a deal with the teacher to use my PC instead. For some reason, I had this magic touch to get the Macs to crash. The glorious OS X could not stand up to me. I was not too disheartened though.
When I was ready to get onto the big tut that I had printed out, school got in the way. The other thing was my trying to finish the big collage that I am still working on. One more tattoo and it'll be done. I hope to finally be able to sink my teeth into the program this Xmas, but we'll see.
Certainly, as far as collabing, I would be honored if you'd still be interested in it. I have a subdomain and I can host up your images, renders with my suggestions on them. Heck I could do that with your current renders now. I could send you a note so that no one else would see them. Only if you'd like tho. I can be pretty brutal.

HAHAHA!!! I HATE IT WHEN THE DAMN MACS CRASH!!! It's so different, yet similar to a PC crash...
I hope that for X-mas you can dive into the program, and perhaps by the end of X-mas we could have some of the model done and you'd be ready to help out with it. Or in another sense, cuz I am pretty sure that Bryce must have certain things that it does better than 3DS and vice-versa, so perhaps if we exploit the best out of the 2 programs, we can have something good
Hey, I am the honored one with doing a collab with you, and I gots no problem with your ideas, just let me know when & how. The subdomain thing you mean it for like "secret" work? I didn't really understand what you meant by it...

Dusky-Hawk In reply to s2f [2004-12-10 17:52:19 +0000 UTC]
Macs would make good boat anchers. They even have a handle on the processor - they really have thought of everything, these days.
By subdomain, (a subdivision off of the main site, given to me by a friend who owns the site because he's nice), I mean I can host up images that have suggestions without having to upload them to DA or some horrid "free" site that spawns 15 pop ups every time you visit them. Instead of being like 'that thing in the left hand corner', I could end up "drawing" on the image in PS7, and then writing the text description off to the side on what I think. More specific, although I don't think I've been cloudy in how I say things. Does that make more sense?

s2f In reply to Dusky-Hawk [2004-12-11 13:58:14 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I understand what you mean, so let me check, you want to use your subdomain (not that I mind, I am just checking) to post up stuff before we do on DA, so that way we will just smack DA with the collab once we're done with it... You also mean that you want to use it for our reference as we make progress on it???
So, are you up for the collab?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Dusky-Hawk In reply to s2f [2004-12-12 02:31:07 +0000 UTC]
I was thinking reference points along the way. Wouldn't use it all the time, but often enough that it would make a difference. I got enough free space that I could upload up to probably 200 megs, but I don't plan to use anywhere near that. Also, certainly getting global feedback is always nice - someone might see something I/you missed.
Yes, I'm up for the collab.
