I learned from the "MLP: Official guidebook" ([link] Lauren Faust said that the villains being beautiful (I'm not sure about Discord) was intentional so they would be evil but not scary to kids. I'm serious, that's what was written. You can see that it remains with this one.

This is areally beautiful piece and I am really loving the concept! What really caught my eye here is the fantastic character design as well as the slight mannerisms and expressions you gave to Rarity which truly resonates with her essence and brings the piece to glorious life! The rose is a nice touch and adds contrast to the darkness! The lighting and shading are done very well and it's great how you used her magic as the main light source!
