Makes me wonder why nintendo gave Rhydon an evolution that is not near as badass and dope looking as Rhydon itself. Rhydon has also always looked like a final evo to me. They could just had given it better stats.

Actually according to Ken Sugimori, Rhydon IS the first pokemon ever created. If you look at early sketches of Capsule Monsters, they feature a Rhydon (before it's chosen final design). That and Rhydon's index number for Gen 1 is 001.
