A pony parody of this image: [link]The Discord episodes of MLP:FiM spawned tons of Star Trek TNG / pony crossovers, obviously, but I've never seen much fan art based on the parasprites in "Swarm of the Century" being an obvious reference to tribbles. I set about to rectify this issue.
Though, now that I think about it, Rainbow Dash probably would have made a better match for Kirk, despite Twilight obviously being the leader. She's more of a Spock type.
Anyway, enjoy!

Between them hiring John De Lancie to voice Discord, and what I've heard about some of the MLP creators being big Trekkies, I think it was intentional...
There's also a reference to Gremlins in the episode. Spike mentions that he gave a parasprite a snack after midnight...

I re-watched this episode today. Only this time did I pick up on the Parasprite / Tribble resemblence. I guess between Discord and this, Lauren Faust sure loves her Trek references!

Hah! I knew you didn't have to adopt the uniform much at all, since Kirk's green uniform was always weird with where it placed the symbol. I know my Trek. (Favorited, by the way.)
I love this and dearly wish to see someone write a well crafted parody of the episode with the ponies now. It would be divine.
Incidentally, the casting of Twilight as Kirk makes me giggle because now I'm picturing Twilight as a romancing lady-killer, which is such an adorkably out of character picture it's hilarious.

I had a thought the other day... If ponies were to wear logo t-shirts, the logo's would really need to be set to the sides You could have small logos on the front of the neck, but that would limit the usable space. I NEVER imagined a year ago, that I'd be contemplating logo placement for t-shirts designed for ponies.

Twilight would be better as Spock, but I think Dash would be better suited as McCoy since they're both really hot tempered and are ready to launch into action to help their friends. I kinda think Rarity would work better as Kirk, given she's such a ham.
