Description
I think there's a thousand songs the wind tells me.The wind still whistles in my ear whenever I push up against it, as if reminding me how childish I really am. When I yell questions to no one in particular, except maybe God and anyone far away from my heart to truly listen, the wind sends back a copy of myself so I understand what they hear. They hear a child, wailing, lost, still pondering life as if she had just been alive for seconds. At the same time, I'm older than most children, and my voice grows more like my parents each day. "Adolescence," everyone tells me, but what I'm feeling now is more than just one mere word long.
There's a thousand songs the wind tells me, a song for every emotion following inside me everyday. It sloshes around, mixing around with other thoughts, fears, and emotions inside my head. My mind is a leaf, travelling haphazardly through the sky, while the wind coaxes me to safety.
Like the wind, I'm not a solid object. People don't see me, but I try to touch them with my voice. Words are forever, even a hundred years from now, words will still be spoken, books will still be read, and the wind will whisper things in children's ears, encouraging them to understand the songs it sings.

I do like it. Very good. I'm thoroughly impressed. You are learning to capture thoughts and put them into words quite vividly. Your development continues.

It's a vignette about a girl, who is growing into adulthood, trying to figure out who she is in a mass full of people who never listen.
Memes? I don't do memes.

Here are some versions of the myth, even though they're all quite different from the one I've heard: [link]
Neither of these versions is very alike your vignette, because innthede, Echo is bound to repeat only what others say. But I still make me think of your character, especially in this sentence:
"The wind still whistles in my ear whenever I push up against it, as if reminding me how childish I really am. When I yell questions to no one in particular, except maybe God and anyone far away from my heart to truly listen, the wind sends back a copy of myself so I understand what they hear."
I think you're right, by the way: words are forever, and that makes them so powerful.

When I read the first part, I thought about the myth about Echo, who's bound to hear her own words being cast together at her, unanswered. And maybe this person in your vignette, feels pretty much the same.
But then, when I read the rest of this short text, I understood that this is about so much more because you made this your own.
Just want to say that I find this very well written!

Oh wow! I'd love to look into that myth, it seems really interesting. I've never heard of it before, even though I probably should have. Very cool stuff.
Yep. Based on my life.
Thank you for the amazing and thought out comment. It means so much to me.
