Just out of curiosity, how many of my watchers have it and have you done an assessment? What was it like? You know how much it cost for you or how that was handled?

I'm trying to look into getting an assessment because I'm always fighting against distractions, memory, motivation, and time management. Like...I'm struggling with so many basic tasks and have to have a number of fail safes to function as society says I should. But the first quote I got was 3k, gotta pay upfront no plans no help, and I just don't got that kind of money. So yknow...asking around since I'm on my own with this. I asked my parents how to handle it and their solutions were 'hypno therapy' and not actually...understanding the importance of this test for me. In the past they've just told me to work harder, which yknow kinda sucks if your brain works like a skipping disk.

So yeah, sup everyone share with me your experiences if you can/want!

I've been diagnosed with ADD, and my brother has ADHD, but we were tested way back in the 90s. I know my brother had to take meds for his, but I don't know if he still does.

As for the management of my time...I still struggle all the time, but I've learned to just focus on one thing at a time and ignore everything else. It might take me longer to get it done since I have to go back and double-check my work, especially when it's just editing a large set of documents in word and I have to make sure I don't miss a document. Thankfully my office lets me play music to help my mind from totally sidetracking. (I don't know why, but if I have music or a dumb youtube video playing, part of me focuses on work, the other part on the video so I don't get off track). Amazon though...There's always something going on that you have to only focus on what you're doing or you'll go crazy.

this was not a diagnosis for adhd specifically but when i went to get help from hillsborough county's vocational rehabilitation, they basically paid for me to get an assessment so i could get re-diagnosed with asd(i had already been diagnosed but the person who first tested me either never documented it or her documents were thrown out when she left the practice so we couldnt find them when we needed them) and that sort of psychological evaluation probably tests for adhd as well.

idk if that method would help you though, given that vocational rehab services really vary based on the location(some counties dont even have one, some probably dont pay for you to get an assessment), and you'd have to be looking into getting a job through voc rehab anyway. so maybe thats a far fetched suggestion but i thought id throw it out there anyway. i would never have been able to afford it otherwise and my dad's insurance mustve covered it the first time. maybe there are similar services in your area that would give you the option, who knows.

hopefully the popularity of m4a leads to it getting legislated in the near future and we all wont have to worry about this kind of crap. healthcare is ridiculous here. i would love to find out where my joint problems come from but employers dont care about how good my bones feel OTL.....
