Here's part two of my Edward Elric wig tutorial. :3There are tons of Edward Elric wigs here on DA, but there aren't any tutorials, so I decided to put one together for you guys! ^.^
I'm terrible at explaining things, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. :3

So glad I found this tutorial. i plan on doing a female version of Edward Elric for the next con I go to the reason why is because the wig I have is a lighter shade of blonde and right now i dont have the money to buy a new wig. I have already started building the arm, but i need to redo them. Simple explanation college student on a budget. I am going to work on the cosplay during the summer. Again thank you.Β

Hmm... I think I would do it a bit differently.
I think of Ed's bangs as being a bit like mine (though, when my bangs start going below my chin, they don't stay up correctly, and Ed's are longer than that). But, if I ever did, I would probably try cutting a wig the same as I cut my hair. Pull the bangs out straight over the nose and straight downward, without any parts in the hair, and cut them evenly across. The different lengths in my bangs are caused by how my hair falls. The problem with this wig, though, is that the hair is going downward instead of upward. Hair wants to stand straight up, and gravity pulls it down when it's too heavy (that's why the Ed references look the way they do, with the little triangle things at the base of his bangs, and his antenna thing sticking up). So there'd need to be rollers or hairspray or glue or something to get the bangs to go up instead of down (and they'd stick up more in the front, and less as it goes toward his ears - right now, the bang's closest to the middle of my head appear about five inches shorter than they really are, because they end at my nose, but if I pull them down, they're an inch past my chin, while the bangs closest to my ears end at my chin and are the same length). The antenna piece would just be a matter of parting the hair, and keeping it from going to one side or the other (my hair always wants to either go to the left or the right).
But, as far as wigs go, you're more experienced than me and probably know more about what you're doing. I'd probably just mess up a wig if I tried modifying one. ^_^"

xD I'm going to try a bit of this on my best friend's hair someday...it's long enough...(but, instead of tacky glue, I think I'll use some hairgel.

Oh my gosh! I wish I had seen this before I cut my Edward wig! XD; Me + Scissors = scary business. I actually screwed up one side and took it far to short...I also cut it while it was on my head so I was doing it all reversed in a mirror. Heh, good job with yours...and great tutorial ;D

XD Oh, you should have seen the first wig I ever styled... Its now in a bag in my closet. Lol. Its just a big mess waiting to be thrown out. XD
This was actually the first legti wig I ever did. Heck yes, I was scared about cutting it (there are a few things I wish I had done differently, but it came out good, nonetheless :3)

true to make spike look nicer >_> but the side effect is harmful to your wig,
imagine that you forgot about it after cosplay and leave it glue for few month... @_@

Thanks so much for the tutorials! I've always wanted to try and cosplay certain characters but due to the hair being tricky, I never did. What's good about this is that the technique can be applied to other hair styles too!

Omg, I just got my wig. I'm freaking out cos I'm scared of wigs *is stupid* and I'm scared to cut it. LOL. T^T But this is helping like you don't imagine right now.
