oh god, I know the feeling. as demiromantic asexual, it's even worse than just being alloromantic asexual because people 'fall in love' so quickly in almost all media! it made me feel like I was broken and dumb because I never really had a crush except for one that turned out to be just happiness to meet a boy who understood that I wouldn't flirt with him.
buuuuut happy ending, I've been in a relationship with my best friend for a few years now, and while I do still doubt my 'romantic attraction' sometimes, I know that I love her with all my heart.

It made me question where the line between friend and lover was. I felt like I needed to be sexually attracted to someone for me to be 'in love'.

I'm honestly really glad I'm aroace so I never had to deal with having to try to work out how myself and relationships worked in a very allosexual world. Hopefully things got better for you and how you understood yourself as time went on! This strip definitely does pull on the heart strings.

That is quite messed up... Thanks for sharing these experiences with us, I know that I'm learning so much about asexuality because of these. And I hope that this first love, whoever they are, learns this stuff too.
