Oh gosh, I hope I didn't comment anything that came off badly. I'll usually add that I'm demi not to say anything is wrong, just to kinda say... well, the above? It sounds like you mean well, but you need to understand labels are important to a lot of queer people and this "let's just be people" talk often does more harm than good. Having specific words makes it easier for us to talk about out experiences and find others who can relate to them.
For example, before I found the label "asexual," I already knew there was something different about me, but I thought I was the only one and that there was something wrong with me. I was on a path that, if I'd kept on it, would've led to suicide. Finding labels that fit me is what pulled me off that path, because that was how I learned that I wasn't alone or broken.
