White Plains Bison (Bison bison bison)His name is Blizzard and he was born on a ranch in the USA. The rancher's stock originated from the herd at Custer State park in South Dakota.
Blizzard now resides at the Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

I love buffalo. At home I live down the road from s small ranch that raises them. A little odd for Massachusetts, but very fun to visit!
*I know it's technically a "bison," but I prefer the term 'buffalo' for nostalgic reasons hehe

This guy would hardly stay still. He was really infatuated with his female pasture buddy there. REALLY infatuated. I think that is why he was there though, so I suppose it's a good thing.

I've had people bitch me out over the buffalo/bison thing before, so I guess some people are sensitive about it, lol! The ranch calls itself a "Buffalo Farm," so that's good enough for me. It's awesome, they sell buffalo burgers from time to time under the theory that the best way to preserve a species is to create a demand for them. Buffalo burgers are DELISH.

Makes sense. Cows and chickens are certainly not on the endangered species list.
Buffalo is great and leaner than beef. We get it sometimes at the local farmers market so it is grassfed and even leaner. Okay, now I'm craving some. Gonna have to fire up the slow cooler for some stew.
