“Not as much as it did this morning. Thanks for helping me change my bandages, Gar. It’s difficult enough moving my arms with a broken rib and a stitched-up back.”
“You know I’d do anything for you, Raven… Hey, when did you get that ink done?”
“Oh, this one? I got it last week. It was my mom’s… anniversary.”
“Huh. That’s why you were gone the whole day… I like it.”
“What? My tattoo?”
“Yeah. But I like mine better.”
“You mean the one Cyborg made you get when you lost at Fire Race Max?”
“No, that one sucks. I’m talkin’ ‘bout this one.”
“… Gar, I’d already told you a dozen times, I’m not going to get that on my body.”
“But it’s us! BB and Rae! Forever! It’s like a good luck charm.”
“No. You can try all you want, but I won’t change my mind. Besides, with all these scars, it’s hard enough finding a spot for a new tattoo. A humiliating one like that is out of the question.”
“Okay okay, I’ll stop. But I gotta be honest… It’s not easy seeing all these scars on your body, and seeing you get hurt like that in the battlefield.”
“You were injured too.”
“Yeah, but not anywhere as bad as you. I hate that every time the alert sounds, I start wondering if that’ll be the last time we see each other. Ugh… I’m gonna have to talk some sense into Nightwing. Maybe he’ll finally force you to retire.”
“At the tender age of twenty-three? You’ve got to be kidding.”
“You have to. My heart can’t take it, seeing you get hurt again. Plus, how are we ever gonna have kids if you keep getting beaten up again like that?”
“Kids? Gar, we’re not even married yet.”
“Well… (mumbles) it’s only a matter of time…”
