Description
Tufted Capuchin (Cebus Apella)Tufted Capuchin, also known as a Brown Capuchin or Black-capped Capuchin, native of South America but photographed here at MonkeyLand, South Africa.
Shown here is the Alpha Male of the group, who is eating a the remains of a wild bird as a young monkey looks on hopefully. I dont know if it was him who caught the bird, or whether he claimed it afterward. Primarily they do eat fruit and invertebrates but are omnivours but meat only makes a small part of their diet.
These monkeys are pproximately 30-60cm in body size, 2-5kg in weight.

About MonkeyLand
MonkeyLand is a free-to-roam sancturies for monkeys near Knysna, South Africa. It cares for monkeys, apes, gibbons and lemurs that were once pets or otherwise human owned animals.
It offers a large, safe and sustainable area where they can live as freely as possible. They need to be protected from outside predators (mainly Baboons), as well as needing some assistance with food. Their food is balanced and monitored by the keepers, they are also able to feed naturally if they wish.
Some monkeys need to be transitioned before they can be freed, which MonkeyLand also does. Eventually they live in in a large swath of forest near Knysna, South Africa.
