this is exactly the kind of ship design i was looking for! i'll be writing a novel later this year centered around my SW OC, and i've been trying to figure out what kind of ship he would fly, and here it is. may i use it for my story?

I'm ok with that. : )
The original design is not mine, though, you might want to contact the other artist in the description.

looks like a personal ship, light freighter or a corvette....
if it is the latter, needs a little more firepower.
just the same great piece

This is an amazing piece! I was wondering if I could use this picture for my OC's ship with full credit to you : )
I have a link to the website I'll be using it on, if you'd like!

I would like to 3D Model this concept, would you allow this if given proper credit? What are your permissions?Β

It can't be used commercially, other than that, sure. Have fun.

As it stands it will be for only personal use, and I will share the model when finished with you if interested.

Very nice design. May I have permission to use this in a bit of fanfic? Someone farther down in the comments called it a YT-2600, and since it does have the CEC-look, I might keep the nomenclature, provided I have your permission to use it.

I like this. Generated an interpretation (whilst in danger of getting excessively meta) to fit my own stable of ships.

While I do like what you've done, I did notice a couple design flaws that could cause problems. I did a quick edit to show you what I mean:
First off, I swapped the kitchen and the Bunks. The reason for this is both for sanitary, and quality of life. If you wanted to go to bed early, there would be no place for the rest of the crew to relax. Likewise, having a bathroom directly connected to the kitchen on such a tight ship could make for a bad time. Lastly, I added an additional door between the cargo hold and the living quarters. If there were ever a hull breach in the aft section, your crew would be trapped in whatever room they were in, and potentially be unable to reach the bridge.
Overall, I love the design, I just figured I'd add in my two sense. Did you create this by hand, or did you use software? If it's the latter, I'd be greatly interested in learning what tool was used.

So...
Leaving aside, for a moment, that you seem to think it's OK to violate my copyright.
You think it is MORE sanitary to sleep in the same room as the toilet, rather than the microwave?
The rest of the crew would be the other member of the crew, who, if you're crashed out, really ought to be flying the ship.
It's not a kitchen, it's an autochef.
But what if there were a hull breech?
Who, exactly, couldn't get to the cockpit? The person who was in the cockpit? They're there already. So, this would be a serious issue IF the ship were holed AND the crew had decided to abandon the flight deck?
If there was a breech severe enough to expose the interior to vacuum so rapidly the crew couldn't shift to the cockpit, then the impact itself would be severe enough to turn the crew to jam.
You can throw 'what if' in as much as you like; there is a limit to the amount of safety gear you can put in.
It's the same in the real world as in the SW:U, you cannot account for everything, and the more features you add the higher the unit cost and the less competitive the design is.
Say you're designing a van, you can say it's a reasonable precaution to put in collision protection, because being hit by another vehicle is perfectly plausible. Same thing for seat belts. But when people start saying things like 'But some kid could drop a concrete block on it from a bridge' you don't just add a whole structural section to prevent it. Because, yes, that could happen, and if it did it would be very bad for the driver. But it's not LIKELY to happen.
Vans are not watertight, even though they might fall into a lake.
Vans are not fireproof, even though they might end up in a fire.
Vans are not bulletproof, even though they might get shot.
Vans do not have emergency balloons, even though they might be driven off a cliff.
Vans do not have bear repellent sprays, even though they might be attacked by a bear.
This ship is a light courier, it is the SWU equivalent of a van.
Besides which, what, exactly, about hard vacuum makes you think the crew couldn't get to the bridge? Hard vacuum isn't a significant problem for human beings, aside from it being a bit painful for the eyes, and I'm pretty sure there's enough space in either compartment to slap a pair of goggles somewhere. The lack of air gets to be a problem fairly soon, but you're talking about walking four feet or so and into another compartment, if that takes you longer than you can hold your breath, you have a serious medical condition and should seek help.
Lastly, coming back to that little thing at the beginning. Your hosting that image, even modified, is in violation of my copyright on the work. You, in doing so, are in violation of the Berne Convention 1886, the WCT 1996 and the terms and conditions of Imgur.com.
Now, it's up to you, you can take it down and apologise and we'll say no more about it, or I can instruct my legal representation to commence proceedings.

Look, I meant to make a suggestion, and did a quick 30 minute edit, and uploaded it for you to see what I meant as an example. I have no interest in stealing your precious work which is based off someone else's work, based on someone else's franchise... Anyway, It's taken down, and I will not be replying to further comments.Β
I intended this to be a simple talk shop, but I can see you are inflexible, and infallible to a fault.

This looks really great... and so does the original design you did. Have you seen the 'Ghost' from the new series Star Wars: Rebels? They based its look from an original Ralph Mcquarrie design for the Falcon... it looks really similar to this ship so you've clearly done an awesome job!

This looks totally awesome. Given its size and layout, it would fit in-universe perfectly as a spinoff/reboot of the YT series freighters, given that the YTs are stated to be very old and no longer in production.

There are many models in the YT-Series.
This could pass for the YT-700, & raise no eyebrows.
The plan view has this ship a little wider than the illo, but that's good. Room for passengers & cargo.
