Description My rabbit, Skipper.

At the end of August I took this little guy to the vet to have his foot looked at for the fourth time since summer started. The vet told me it was in his best interest to either have the foot amputated or to have him put to sleep. I opted to do the operation, despite the uncertainty about his age (he was definitely old, just not sure how old) and the risks involved with rabbits and anesthesia.

My tough little guy survived the operation, and was already walking decently after just one day.

On October 29th I got a phone call from my dad. Something was wrong with Skipper. He wasn't eating or drinking and he couldn't walk. I was at college, three hours away. Even if I had left immediately, I wouldn't have made it home in time for him to go to the vet. My parents took him and I waited anxiously for the call telling me how things went. Around one my dad called and told me he had several bad infections in his chest and their was no way to turn it around and the had him put to sleep.

The surgery only bought him two more months of life. His fur was still growing back.
