Description
So after getting more into my old G3 figures, I realized I wasn't really happy with my Starcatcher. She was a later model, made closer to G3.5, and she didn't look enough like she did in the show. So I decided to customize her.Her cutie mark came off easily with 100% acetone nail polish remover. However, she also had a few of those ugly discolorations on her that I hoped to get rid of, but the acetone couldn't get them off.
Then I used a pencil to sketch in her real design, and then used ultra-thin sharpies to draw them on. I had some trouble though, because I didn't have a marker in the right color purple as her fancy curly lines, so I drew them in a light greyish-blue and then colored over it with pink. It's still not as purple as it should be, but it works.
After I drew everything, I covered what I drew in clear nail polish. Even though sharpies are supposed to permanent, they WILL come off if they get weathered too much, and they will also smudge. I would have used my acrylic varnish, but that will peel off of this kind of plastic.
Unfortunately, I quickly realized that the nail polish was reacting a bit to the ink, which is why the heart cutie mark is so fluorescent looking. It also smudged the ink a little, so I had to be VERY careful when covering it. Then I realized I didn't like how she was now glossy where I had painted, and matte everywhere else, so I decided to cover her WHOLE body in the clear nail polish. Now she looks shiny and even more special.
You may not be able to tell in this picture, but I also added some fine glitter to her cutie mark and her forehead, just like the more special G3 toys do.
I'm pretty happy with it. She looks a heck of a lot better than she used to.

I envy you! I love Starcatcher. She, alongside Majesty and Rosedust, are my favorite royal ponies!

I used to love My Little Pony and I still love it but I only got one toy that my parents bought me, when I was younger, but I never knew her name, plus I lost her years ago. Β
You did a wonderful job here at fixing the figurine up. It looks very professional and looks quite new!Β Β

What did your pony look like? Based on the colors, and even better if you remember the cutie mark, it should be pretty easy to pin it down.

I do remember that she was an earth pony with a red coat and palm trees as her mark, but I don't exactly remember what was her hair color. It could be either chartreuse or a yellowish color, I think.

This does resemble her but it isn't. I think the palm trees were on an island or something. Maybe she was a bootleg.

Are you sure it wasn't a g1? It could have been Pina Colada:

YES! THAT'S HER!
My god! I must be getting old, cause the hair doesn't look like how I described it. But that is her for sure!
Β
I never said it was g1. This is a g1 pony?Β

Yes, she was under the g1 wiki. I checked g1 just to be sure since there weren't any others like her under g3.

I'd never be brave enough to touch up a G3, so props to you~! ^^
I always had a problem with her last release for the same reasons, so it's cool to see her more accurate ^^ Getting her like this sounded like a hassle, but I think it was worth it. This is really cool!

it's really nice. kind of been wanting to do the same thing with my G1 ember....but then again, i also feel i'd destroy the poor thing ^^"
also, i can't seem to get it through my mind that starcatcher is white. i have one of the big ones, and she's faded pink over the years, possibly due to sun exposure from the previous owner, and always depict her as white with pink legs as a result >.>
