I'll admit even I laughed at a bit of G3 hate back when FiM first became popular, but now 4-5 years later it's still going on? As someone who loved G3 back when it was current, I can agree that it's really getting old, and in a lot of cases, hurtful.G3 hate has become a running gag that has been drawn out for far too long. It's long past unfunny. Sure, it offered a chuckle in the beginning, but after that, it should have been left alone. Even the show acknowledged it (Too Many Pinkies), which I am thoroughly disappointed. It's really not as bad as the bronies make it out to be.
There's NOTHING wrong with being girly, and just because something is girly doesn't make it bad. You can't take a show made for young girls, put it at the same standard as a show made for a teen+ unisex audience, and then call it bad when it doesn't fit the bill. That's not a fair judgement.Β Believe it or not, there are girls who actually like girlyness. I was one of them. If they didn't, G3 wouldn't have made it as far as it did.Β

I don't watch this show, but I can understand this, as it trends in a lot of fandoms with multiple continuities (Transformers has this same sort of problem). People just like to have something to hate.

I never really understood all the hate with the exception of Newborn Cuties, which were poorly done all over. It's a bit hypocritical to hate G3 when the voice actors in FiM were in G3. I find that G3 is a reminder of my childhood, especially A Very Minty Christmas. In FiM, there are multiple characters I dislike when they're on screen. In G3, there are none. G3 proved that you didn't need an over-the-top villain to have a conflict and showed you how a friendship starts (in Twinkle Wish Adventure in fact).

I never liked it and never will, not when it was current and I was a little girl and not now. It wasn't the girliness that was the main problem, it was that the characters basically all looked and sounded the same, which distracted me from any content that might have existed.

They all looked the same, I'm telling you! Also, they sounded like they all had the same voice actress. And no, I wasn't conditioned for anything. My parents never conditioned me at all. I just have trouble telling people apart when they all look and sound alike. At that point, I was three, and I could only tell people apart by silhouette! Maybe it's just because I have face blindness, but idk.

They probably looked similar because they wanted to be easily customizable to children, when I was a kid back then the G3 ponies looked easier on the eyes to me than the modern ones. That also made them easier to draw since its traditional animation and less perfect shapes.

I only agree with you on G3.5, it ruined G3. But I understand why you don't like G3, it was soft, cute and girly (things I liked when I was little), G4 has more action, more characters and interesting villains. I like both of them, but G3 will always be closest to my heart.

Yeah, the characters were so undeveloped that they were practically interchangeable! And it didn't help that they all looked, sounded, and acted the same. Maybe that wouldn't be a problem for other people (I know it wasn't a problem for my cousin), but for me, as a person with face blindness, it just made me disassociate from the whole thing.

I think you need to learn the meaning of what someone means when they say something is 'the shit', Gen3 hating dipshit.
You see, when someone calls something "{insert something here} is the shit/is my shit.", they're basically saying that they love the thing. If you can't comprehend all that, what my previous comment just said is; "I fucking love Gen3 MLP"

I was a little girl when it was current, and I absolutely hated it. And I wasn't even a huge tomboy. I just preferred shows with more of a plot and actual character variety. But hey, it's not like little girls deserve shows with actual substance just as much as little boys do, right?

It's been a whole year since I posted that comment, and my opinion on the subject has changed. I can understand why even a little girl wouldn't like it. I'm not even really a G3 MLP fan, I just like the prettiness, I like G3 Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie better than their G4 namesakes, and how it's much less serious.

I actually like things to be at least a little serious. Humor is good, but I want characters that are at least slightly deeper than a pie dish. But that's just my silly personal preference!
