no worries
i have included a PSD file download which is avaliable, once you do so you can just open it up in gimp and colour the "base" layers
or if you cant get that to work, i have the whole greyscale as one layer here: eskimodogsrule.deviantart.com/…

yes pretty much....i use GIMP 2.6 if that helps at all and i have it up but i don't know how to change it to a gray scale with out all the other colors

ooohhh
that
the colours are just on the base layers which you can brush over with colours of your choice
but if you want to change it from RGB colour to black&white, i think the option for that is (i may be a bit out as i use photoshop): image>enhance>black&white (or something along those lines)
