Story:
It was only the second day of the whole event. Spirits were high and everyone
was full of energy yet. Olvado has been a bit on edge with all the entrants, dogs
and horses around him. It was too crowded for his liking. Lero was hoping he
would calm down once they got going and luckily he was right. The more distance
they got between themselves and the crowd, the better he did.
Dasher was always roaming the area, but never far from them. He just let out a
muted "ruff" when someone approached them, but didn't pay them further attention
when he noticed the familiar person.
Lero turned his head to grin at his half-sister. "Hope your toes aren't freezing off yet."
"Could say the same to you! Even if they were frozen i could still beat you to the finish!"
"I'm not gonna lose to you a second time!" He had to make up for losing their last bet.
It wouldn't happen again!
"Oh your on! get ready do loose a second time!" She grinned. The excitement was
building in the air and Lucca could feel it just as much!
"We'll see about that. If I win, you owe me a beer!" Almost simultaneously their horses
jumped into a hurried canter as if understanding it was about a bet. Olvado was
side-eyeing the mare, instinctively trying to race her to his best ability.
There was almost no time for her to agree or not as their horses took off! But that beer
was hers! Lucca could tell the stallion was serious but there was no way she was gonna
make it easy for him! despite her small size she was gonna give him a run for his oats!
The village was soon to be seen through the misty fog. Olvado was breathing audibly
from running and the soggy ground made it a bit of a challenge, but he seemed
surefooted enough to continue the race. Not like he was gonna give up only a few
meters away from winning! Dasher was right at their heels, living up to his name.
While Lero was carefully slowing Olvado down close to the village, to not have him
stop abruptly and slip after all, the Laika darted past them and was the first to arrive
at the village, followed by Olvado now trotting closer just shortly before Reka and
Lucca. "I'll take a Stiegl!", he simply shouted his order towards her in triumph.
Lucca was a tough little horse but in the end couldn't keep up with the tank of an
Ober. Reka pulled her up as well when they got closer to the village but over all it
was great show down.. even though she lost.. BUT she wasn't letting him win that
easy. "HOLD UP Dasher won so you came in second i dont owe you anything!"
She joked. But was dead serious. "He boy what do you want for winning." She laughed.
Lero looked a bit confused for a second, but then laughed too. Fair enough.
Dasher came up to Reka, proudly wagging his tail and tongue lolling out while
panting. He definitely deserved a Schnitzel for that win.
