These lovely old London buses are being phased out of service.This was taken on the last day for them on the 73 route that I get to work on.

RIP Routemaster. I will miss them (I'm old enough to miss the Leylands, too). Check out my gallery, there are some works there which commemorate the Routemasters. I think you'll like them.

i looked at your pics, really good. i like what you do & i read the note on the way that you do it & it impressed me even more. you've got far more patience than i have!
it is a shame they've gone, but i guess time moves on & they'd had a pretty good innings. it's just a shame that what they've replaced them with are no improvement & have far less character.

double deckers freak me out.
at my old uni there used to be a promo bus that was a double decker which carted uni students into the pub.
scary as hell when the drinks start to kick in and there are a few huge roundabouts on the way.
seems a shame for em to be phased out though.
they are iconic for england.

Thank you. The are great to look at & definitely iconic, but they were a pig to ride, so I'm not that sad to see them go!

It is a shame, but they're 40 odd years old & it really does show sometimes!
The new buses just don't have the same character though.
