Description People do realize I welcome critique, right? 'k. Good.

Warning for the overly-sensitive: This picture does have a naked infant girl in it. There is nothing sexual or even explicit about the nature of this nudity (it's along the lines of those photos that everyone seems to have of their kids bathing in the sink), but if you're super offended by stuff like that, then now is the time to click away.

Anyways, teen parents Sintas and Boba lounging around on a hot, lazy Saturday morning on Concord Dawn, playing with baby Ailyn. I'm a sucker for cannon pairings, and I think the reason that this one is so unpopular is that (aside from not being slash or incest - two disturbingly popular trends with most fangirls, it seems) Sintas, outside of one comic, has about all the personality of the slab of carbonite she was encased in for 99% of her cannon book-time. Same with Ailyn. So, in addition to all the other 'ships I support, I am continuing with Fett family goodness to spread the fandom, but some of the art will be 2nd generation Fetts playing daddy.

As for the pose Ailyn is in, I'm not sure if it's inappropriate or not for a baby, but my parents would swing me by my arms when I was a toddler, and I'm the youngest in my family so I have no observations other than my own hazy childhood recollections to go off of. She has her future tattoos painted on her face because in one of the Quinlan Vos comics, he and his lover paint the family markings on their infant son's face, so I figured it was some sort of Kiffar tradition to paint the markings on until the child is old enough to get a tattoo.

I never actually heard of Sintas Vel before but upon reading about her character I have one thing to say.

Holy shit, that's dark. Even for Star Wars. Star Wars has always had this thing with a lot of extreme stuff happens but they portray it in a ''child-friendly'' light. They didn't even try to paint her story as positive.Β

Looks good for the most part. Some areas of concern: the baby's head is way too small looking and should have more forehead. Take a look at babies and you'll see what I mean. She looks like a small pre-teen right now. I don't know why Boba is holding her like this, as it could dislocate her shoulders. Boba's eyes are too close together, and I think you should spend some more time on studying muscles from life and books ("Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist" by Stephen Rogers Peck and "Anatomy for the Artist" by JenΓΆ Barcsay are fantastic books). It doesn't look like Sintas even has an elbow joint β€” they're just two blobs of muscle joining together somehow. Her left leg also looks deflated below the hip. Her ear is also far too low on her head. Where is Boba looking, and why don't either of them look like they're having as much fun as the baby? It's almost as if they're bored. I'm not saying that this has to be realistic by any means . . . but there are some basics on anatomy one should still follow. Okay . . . is that enough of a critique? LOL

Thanks for the critque! Yeah, I figured the anatomy was way off - I don't have a lot of practice drawing babies (though I have no excuse but for a lack of talent on the part of the adults). I keep trying to work on expressions, too, 'cause I know they're a weak point - I try to keep the component parts of the face in scale (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't)so any exaggeration needed to convey actual emotion escapes me. If you have some references/tutorials to help out with that, it'd be great. (I actually do own those anatomy books, it's just that I 'practice' drawing during class where they aren't much help). I'd like to say my style has improved some since I posted this, but I can't really claim that with much confidence.

I love this picture, you've captured the moment very well. I don't see anything wrong w/ this pic. It's awesome.

I agree, it's gross what some people do w/ fangirl stuff.

Go Fett family!

Very nice! I'm not too familiar with Ailyn, but it is nice that you chose to illustrate other parts of the Fett's lives and interactions.

Also, I think your baby Ailyn, together with her pose and nudity, are fine. I mean...my 5 year old bro parades without pants on 22/7. The other two hours are accumulated time of when he MUSt wear pants.

I'm not surprised, she was a really bit player - mostly there so Boba could have a hip, of-age granddaughter in the post-ROTJ EU, where everyone is still cavorting around despite being like, 70-something years old. But that's sort of a hobby of mine is taking characters/stories that could have been awesome but weren't, and trying to make them fit better in my imagination. So if I do post more 2nd generation daddy Fett stuff, the core drama will remain close, but the characters will be less wash-rinse-repeat than they were written (less girl-in-the-freezer, no more impostor Bobas (that plot device is as cliche as a new superweapon or the Emperor cloning himself).

Yeah, I figured the nudity was alright but wanted to cover my ass just in case. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHA Oh my goodness that cracked me up. "when he MUST wear pants". Sounds traumatically hilarious. Not sure if I should be jealous or relieved I'm the youngest in my family then, if people with younger siblings get that sort of circus of odd behaviors running about. I bet you have better stories than I do, in any case.

Yeah I know what you mean. The Post-OT EU has me shaking my head. Lots of unbelievableness.

I do like the Legacy stuff though.

For realz. Palpy just needs to stay dead. He was never cool to begin with.

They recycle plots like that's all there is to write.

"Hmm.... Let's have someone ELSE pretend to be Fett. Need new conflict? Let's have the Solo kids KIDNAPPED! Shock! We need a bad guy - I know - let's have Palpatine CLONED AGAIN. That'll shock 'em. What else can we do? Oh! How about a new, mobile planet-killing super-weapon?! SO ORIGINAL!"

Huff. That, and poor characterization. Everyone's either a drama queen, two-dimensional, or a Mary Sue/Gary Stu, or a combination of the above mentioned. Some EU is readable, but I generally prefer pre/during OT EU for bearable reading.

Yeah, sorry about the rant. Like I said - I take the parts I like and make up my own garbage.
