Okay VERY long written ref in a few hours, guys!

Appearance (clothing):

    Ru has a buttermilk-coloured Japanese-influenced tunic with light blue lining, with a gold line and a turquoise dot ¾ over the sleeves. It is blue with white ‘veins’ on the inside. The tunic splits up over on the chest section, revealing a white bra-style tank top with red veins. The tunic has a cutoff sleeve with the same colours and decorations on the right arm.
    She has a light brown corset tied at the back. A long, flowing crimson skirt follows, held by the corset and decorated with a black-and-gold off the hip sash, with light blue beads as follows. The skirt is split on the right side, showing chocolate-colored ‘flowing’ shorts with a ‘split’ on the right side, tied with a green knee brace. She goes barefoot with the exception of two brown ‘foot guards’. Ru sports twin anklets of a sky blue color.

Personality: Rutilated Quartz can be an easy-going person, or can seem like one, unless you get her started. Don’t get her started, I repeat, DO NOT get her started. Ru’s a free spirits and a wanderer, no one ties her down now. However, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a good amount of friends. If you’re nice to her she’ll be nice to you. Can be strict, can have a childish nature rarely. Worst puns the Earth has heard. Confident she’s right, she usually is. Mad when she isn’t. Naive, detached. Don’t try to prove her wrong. She’ll laugh if you laugh. Speaks with the eyes. Curious.

Weapon: MAPS, short for Multi-Action Portable Staff. A long staff with several shades of brown, a turquoise handle, a gold-bronze tip, and rutilated quartzes tied at the top.
    What’s special about this weapon is that it transforms. LITERALLY. MAPS has four modes

WALKER- No extra defenses will be shown, just a razor-sharp bronze-gold tip. Blue handle. Can be used for stabbing.
SAVIOR- Staff collapses by the half and blade opens up to a metal fan. Uses for defense and occasionally heavy hits, slicing through like a scythe. Pink handle.
BORROWER- Ru can use nearby elements (fire, water, earth, air, metal) against the enemy. The staff is longest at this point, but lacks a tip. White handle
CONQUEROR- Takes a battle-axe/scythe fusion form, with the staff being at its lightest. Can fire beams of light. Yellow Handle.

Before you say it’s too OP, it’s not. The staff takes a long time to morph and it exhausts Ru as almost as if she were doing every hit on a physical level. Also remember that Ru isn’t very good at close-range attacks. It’s also not guaranteed that every morph will happen successfully.

    Long before the Gem War, Gem Tech wasn’t as ridiculously advanced as it is today. The Diamonds, independent as they are, often didn’t see each when they needed to exchange messages about colonies and soon-to-be colonies.
    Thus, Priestesses were invented. The concept is similar to Pearls, except these ‘Special Quartzes’ have slightly more freedom. Red Rutilated Quartz was one of these said Priestesses.
Not only were they messengers, they worshipped the Diamonds in private ceremonies and interpreted omens, although not being quite Sapphires. However, being a Priestess came with risks, as every other gem. You messed up a message, you likely were shattered.
    Red Rutilated Quartz was a Gen. 7 Priestess, Head of the Priestesses ,as well.
Each Priestess had a Diamond they answered to, thus White Rutilated, Blue Rutilated, Yellow Rutilated, and Pink Rutilated. And then there was red. Although created under White Diamond, she responded to them all. An equal and a leader.
    At the time Ru was created, Diamond Technology had advanced furiously, so the Diamonds started forgetting about their Priestesses.They weren’t important anymore. No omens came, nothing, nothing. The Priestesses began to worry. Even Red.
    Not less than a century later, the Gem War started.
The Priestesses all willingly went to earth to fight those ‘Rebels’, despite not having trained like a proper Quartz and having almost no fighting experience.
    On the way there, by Nepal, the ship began to malfunction. Red saw the mattered and selflessly tossed herself out of the ship, as there was too much weight for such a small ship. She was confident that her four other Priestesses would fight for their HomeWorld, even if she wasn’t there to see it.
    She would regret this choice later on.
She fell, not having calculated her fall, and would have died instantly if not for the several pines that broke her fall. It was enough to get her poofed.
    Some time later, she regenerated with a self-created staff, which she called MAPS. Ru began to panic at her stupid choice, it was her responsibility to fight for HomeWorld and she had almost committed suicide trying to help her fellow gems.
    Ru clung on to the idea that the Diamonds would send a ship. Surely they would send for a messenger..?? A ship?
The other Rutiles weren’t so lucky. All of them were either shattered or poofed and bubbled, never to come back. Except for ONE.

    Centuries passed and Ru remained in Nepal, in the snowy mountains. She made contact with humankind and taught them what she clumsily learned in the previous centuries. Ru wasn’t sure to trust these people quite yet, but they were company and company was certainly always appreciated.
    Ru loved to tell stories and her story, the story of a pale snow woman was passed down by the humans, making her a literal living legend.
    But more time passed and the Diamonds didn’t come. Ru was slowly losing faith, losing hope in everything she believed in. Were those four deities really that busy to send a single rescue ship?
    She began to wonder if they even cared. One day, she became so angry with said Diamonds she threw her Priestess sash, and collapsed, crying into the old snow. She was done believing, idolizing HomeWorld. They didn’t care for her and she wasn’t, either. Time passed and she started believing her opinions, voicing them to icy lakes, discussing herself and what she was, WHO she was.
MAPS in hand, she rigorously made her way up, up, up the mountains, over the mountains, and onto Earth. Her curiousness for the planet caught up and enveloped her in a hug, she wanted to enjoy this!
    However, she still had a worry. What about her other Priestesses? They were like sisters to her. THEY mattered, at least. During a long time, she searched and searched. Until she found one.
    A blue monster, with winding white stripes across it, crossed her path.
    It was Blue Rutilated Quartz,and she was corrupted. Ru recognized her and had no choice but to fight for her survival, tears raining down her face as she tried to parry, blow for blow, strike by strike.
    She defeated her own comrade, and decided to put an end to her misery by shattering her comrade. She buried Blue in a sunny field, filled with flowers.
    At this point Ru didn’t even know who she was, she felt like a murderer, an empty shell.

    But centuries passed and she slowly recovered with help from humans and the world itself, and now is a happy little traveler and tourist. She visits Gem Relics every once in a while to pay her respects. She destroyed any tracking proof that the Diamonds gave her. Shut off from HomeWorld. She was heartbroken when she learned of Pink Diamond’s shattering, having related to her the most.
    Ru still remembers all her fallen friends, her heart isn’t fully mended from all the betraying and backstabbing HW had done to her and the Priestesses before her, and there are days where she feels like she should just poof, but for the most, it’s just Red Rutiled Quartz and her Earth.
