I ordered an Oculus Rift dev kit a week ago. Impatiently waiting for it, and decided to quicly throw a possible application for it, wich can happen in a very near future.Google that shit up if you don't know what I am talking about. It is what I considered the next paradigm shift in display, that also emcompass immersion.

Clicking on pre-order is actually how you buy a the Kit. They prompt you to a page where you fill up some info, and you can pay with paypal. Β Dont have mine yet. It takes a month+give or take a week to get.Β

To use a bad pun, the Occulus Rift is certainly a game changer. Β But it reminds me very much of the hardware in everyday use in the Ghost In The Shell manga. Β Only hard core immersionists will be using this at first.

the game I am working on is in the Source Engine so I have been debating using the Oculus Rift!

The engine is perfect for it though. And it allows older machines to get the required 60 fps. Β

their was a very old game near the beginning of the Video game Industry, very poorly done however the idea was just very solid and had never been done in 3d before.Β I plan on re-inventing it and a RPG graphic novel game I have been writing for quite awhile.
