Description The thunder crackled, and the wind blew hard. The lightning cut through the darkness, showing a mansion far off in the distance. The gargoyles living there glowed like the moon as the light hit them. The rain poured over the land like a flood. It felt like little pinpricks piercing your skin.
The short, ugly toad like man waited for his master patiently out in the rain. He twitched occasionally from time to time. His hair was matted and pulled back into a stubby ponytail. His eyes were so small, they looked like tiny, black, pebbles had been mashed into his face. His skin was pale and had a tinge of green. He had what looked like a pillowcase tied around his waist and torso. He was so full of soot, and dirt, you wouldn’t know he lived in a clean and tidy mansion.
Like the wind, a slim, tall, dark figure landed in front of the stubbly man. The figure looked down at the toad thing, and smirked. Another round of thunder rolled over the land once again.
“Come. We shall go up to the house, Toda,” the soft alto voice of the figure murmured over the thunder. He swiftly stepped casually up to the house, without checking to make sure the toad thing was following. He walked through the garden, looking from left to right at his drenched flowers surrounding the mansion. He smiled when he saw the black roses by the mansion door. The beautiful, perfect, black roses were still in perfect condition, despite the icy rain pouring on them. He leaned down, and kissed one of the buds softly. “My beauties…” he chuckled softly, and bowed slightly to the roses before opening the mansion door. It creaked loudly as the hinges moved. He stepped inside, and waited for the toad thing to walk in before closing the door behind him.
“Toda, light a torch, it’s dark in here.” He ordered. Toda did as he was told, and lit a match. He held it to the kerosene of the torch, and it lit on fire. The soft light of the torch illuminated the dark room, showing off the strange paintings and sculptures littering the inside. There was also a beautiful spiral staircase to the left of the two. Toda looked up at his master, and looked expectant.
“Master, how did everything go…?” he wheezed. The dark figure smiled softly and stepped into the light. His face was a pale, creamy color, like a white flower. His eyes were a deep, dark crimson, like the soft bleeding of a rose. His hair came down in waves of thick, black silk down his back. A fang poked out of his pink, plump lips. He wore nothing but black. Just simply black leather pants and a tight long sleeve shirt. The most noted of his outfit was the long black cape dragging behind him. The symbol on the back stood for death. The symbol was in a dark crimson…like his eyes.
“Everything went fine. I got what I wanted. Everything is in order,” he said. The thunder crackled again, causing the windows to tremble slightly. Toda winced at the sound, and covered his eyes. “You should have heard the screaming! It was like music to my ears!” he laughed maliciously. Toda whimpered in fear, and still had his eyes covered. The dark figure rushed up the spiral staircase, his boots echoing throughout the house, his laughter following him.
Toda uncovered his eyes and peered around. Did his master leave? “Master?” he whispered. No answer. “Master must have gone to bed…” he shrugged and slowly walked up the stairs too. Another clap of thunder was heard, and the little toad thing squealed, and hurried up the steps.

The vampire sighed and slid the cape off his shoulders. The rain had slowed down some, and there was no thunder or lightning. He had noticed that every month when he went to feed, there was always rain. It was like the weather was warning the town’s people or something.
He looked around his room. Everything was as he left it. The large bed in the middle, with a crimson bed spread, and black pillows. And the soft cherry wood of the furniture really gave the room a nice glow. Everything was in order.
He shivered. The air around him was always so cold no matter what. He was never warm. Everything around him was so cold. He thought of himself as a cold-blooded monster. They were both true, no matter how you put it. He was cold-blooded, and he was after all, to the town’s people, a monster. That was why he stayed in the confinements of his mansion. It was safe there. It always had been. Ever since he could remember.
He poured himself a glass of wine, and sipped it generously. He always loved to hold the wine on his tongue longer then he needed to. To saver the taste of it…like he did to blood…
He held the glass in front of him, admiring it. “This could almost pass for blood…if it were perhaps thicker.” He dropped the glass and it shattered to the floor. Glass pieces flew all over the floor. He bent down and picked up a few shards, and squeezed them in his hand. A cold, black, substance oozed out of his hand, and dripped down his fist. He frowned, and let the shards go. They dropped with a sharp ‘cling’, and landed in the black blood.
“Everything is black in my world…” he flopped down of his giant bed, sighing loudly. He raised his wounded hand in front of his face, wincing at the color covering it. “I hate it. Why does it have to be this way? My life is worthless in my eyes and in other’s. Everything I do brings pain to others…and I love it. I love it and I hate it! It’s so complicated! Sometimes I wish I could die! Then it would all be fine…”
“But sir, you can’t die! Who would I serve then?” The vampire shot up off the bed, and looked at the toad thing with a menacing glare.
“What are you doing in my room? You worthless toad! Get out! I never want to see you here again! Get out!” he yelled, as he threw a black candle at the toad thing. Toda closed the door quickly, and heard the soft ‘thud’ of the candle hit it.
The vampire watched as the candle wax ran down the door slowly, hardening as it went.
