REALLY glad you like the anatomy , but indeed the clothes carry a lot of weight into who she is.  According to part of the back story I was provided, she inhabits a Steampunk type world.  Since that movement is so inspired in Victorian/ 19th Century looks I had to research info into women's fashion of that time period.  Heck I got to learn a thing or two about the vocabulary involved.  I learned that the piece of fabric that is placed at waist height for decoration purposes is called "Garniture"  which is a word is I don't think I'll use ever again outside of this context.
