I see a lot of potential here... That cold, dark water adds a lot of depth (no pun intended 
A bit wider shot, so there would be more empty space from the sides. Being surrounded by more water would help underscore the feeling of being immersed into it.
Also, it's a bit hard to tell if you're coming out of the water or going in. I can see that your body is wet, but it's very subtle and you gotta really pay attention to notice. If it was somehow more obvious, maybe trying to come out of the water right as you're about to shoot might have helped with that. I think something like that would have made the rebirth concept more pronounced.
I know that it's tricky as hell to shoot in those conditions, but I hope this is helpful in some way.
