Oh I see.
So you were raised English or both?
I was raised in three languages. English is my second one ^^

I was raised in English, but I went to an Irish speaking primary school, so I am fairly good in the language, though I wouldn't say that i'm fluent.

It's so much fun to speak too!!
Common phrases include:
Dia guit! (Dee-a gwit) means "God be with you" but is always used for "hello"
Conas atΓ‘ tΓΊ? (Cunnass attaw too) means "how are you"
CΓ©n fΓ‘th? (Cayn faw) means "what's the reason?" or "why?"
An bhuil cead agam dul go dtΓ an leithreas? [spelled wrong probably] (un vuill cyad agum dul guh dee un leh-riss) means "Am I allowed go to the bathroom?"
Le d'thoil? (Leh d-hull) "please?"
TΓ‘ brΓ³n orm (taw bro-n urm) "I'm sorry"

That word be cool!
Nobody ever really speaks it anymore though. It's a dying language.

Jakkie03 In reply to Scriblyn [2019-05-08 05:39:14 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, that's sad!
People shall speak it. It's important for culture!
My native language is dying as well, although it's spoken by almost 7 million people.

There are only 2 counties in Ireland that speak Irish normally.

Only two? How many counties do you have?

Ohhh so only a small minority speaks Irish
π: 0 β©: 1
Scriblyn In reply to Jakkie03 [2019-05-08 06:03:38 +0000 UTC]
A very very small minority.
Now of course, there are Irish schools like the one I went to, and they know how to speak Irish, but over 95% do not speak Irish at home.
Oof.

But some of the signs in cities are written in Irish, right?
π: 0 β©: 1
Scriblyn In reply to Jakkie03 [2019-05-08 06:10:13 +0000 UTC]
Yes yes, and in shops too. But nobody really pays attention to those.

Jakkie03 In reply to Scriblyn [2019-05-08 06:12:45 +0000 UTC]
That's a shame. I mean I liked to read the signs in Ireland although I didn't know how to pronounce the words. XD
In my opinion more people shall learn this language before it dies!
π: 0 β©: 1
Scriblyn In reply to Jakkie03 [2019-05-08 06:15:10 +0000 UTC]
The signs are so normal for us we don't ever notice them.
Often times, on a walk, my mom will point at a sign and ask me, "do you know what that means?" And I say yes and read it, but really nobody cares.
I think so too! If more people learn it,,, it won't- well, die!

Oh I see!
I'm my country many signs are written in three languages. But most of them are in English so everyone understands them.

It's Zulu or IsiZulu. A language spoken by a majority of black people.
Sadly, it wasn't taught at my school.

I don't know...maybe I'm gonna give it a try, maybe I don't.
But in my opinion the original one was just as fine as it was. We don't need no realistic one. It's all animated anyways XD
