Description
people think writing is all aboutgritting your teeth and trying to spit,
choking, white knuckles,
one word at a time—
Drama!
ready your wrist, spiral notebooks
and red ink slashed across a page, a reputation,
celebrities, scandals, divorce and corruption
and disaster on capitol hill—
Drama!
i’ve got no bunch of roses on my bedside table.
my lava lamp is cold and dead. my head
and my heart are right here where they belong,
thank you very much.
Midnight.
it doesn’t happen by choice.
the world stops.
the ink spills.
couldn’t hold it back if i tried.
Truth.
there’s no forty-two ways about it.
drama, drama, drama.

writers are damned if they do, and damned if they don't (same probably applies to all artistic mediums). You never feel fulfilled by the pursuit of creativity (you might get a fleeting sense of satisfaction or relief), but you can't stop producing creative work without feeling like something vital is missing.
So you look for meaning elsewhere--at the bottom of a bottle, perhaps...and you don't find it there
so you end up drunk and writing once again

nice to have you back online, but take as many breaks as you need. i took basically all of last year off from digital art and it made me feel so much.. better. and when i picked it back up again it was as new and exciting as when i first started. so dont stress about taking a break if you feel you need it, in the long term its a good thing no matter how frustrating it may be now.
also cool structure on this one! c:

I never worry about it; I only write when I feel like writing. No such thing for me as writer's block since I don't feel that I mUst write regularly to a schedule or to a minimum volume. I'm not a professional and don't want to be, so I can do what I do.

glad to hear it well i'm no professional either but i've always been told that the best thing a writer can do is write every day, even if it's shit it's good to just get something down.

I don't really agree; if it's shit, I wasted my time. Unless I learned something positive from it, which is a bit unlikely at this point in my non-career.

maybe the discrepancy here is that i find i learn something positive from the act of writing itself, that the process of working through something can be rewarding no matter the final product.
i also feel that if the only thing that makes writing worth it is a beautiful finished product, it's impossible to really enjoy writing, and if you don't really enjoy writing, it's difficult to produce a beautiful finished product.
but maybe that's just me.

I suspect that each of our opinions are just us.
I don't tend to 'work through' things, but just write pretty much subconsciously, merely typing what the little creator guy in my head spits out. Occasionally I have to correct typos from inaccurate transcriptions. It's rare that I make a conscious word change. Just my own laziness, I guess. I feel as if I take more than a few minutes to get it all down, I've interfered with the creative process and am doing the changes when I'm no longer in the same mood/state of mind that prompted the writing in the first place, so it would lose artistic integrity.
