Description
my name leapsin blue bubble letters
from the sides of buildings,
i’m addicted
to inelegance.
i’ve gotten caught up
in shattering closed windows
and jumping in mud puddles,
romping and stomping
through someone else’s tobacco haze,
slurping thirstily the blood
of taillights.
looks like i’ve been so lost
in Escher sketches
on subway walls
that i haven’t noticed
my MetroCard is running out.
turns out i’ve
been turning slowly
from dove to raven, soaring
out of light and into darkness,
hurtling headfirst
for the obsidian river.
this whole goddamn
city’s a tessellation, skyscrapers
interlocking, streets and avenues weaving
a taut net of tar
and you know, i really enjoyed
being the water that flows
so impossibly, blissfully
upward
until
it was my turn
to come crashing down.

Outstanding! Tessellation carried from
beginning to end--brilliantly composed.
Man, this was fun to read. You've inspired
me to do battle with my writer's block.

I think I just fell in love with your words.

wow i'm really touched! i love your works too
that part was specifically about an Escher piece, "Day and Night." i don't know if you've seen his stuff, but it's really cool

I'd seen a lot of his stuff -- so many are classics -- but not that one (until just now!). What a great piece.

Only a poet could make self-destruction sound this beautiful. Well done.

I love this:

A poem all on its own.
