Definitely a beautiful piece of work, i can tell that a lot of effort was put into it. Love the detail and mountain schematics; very well balanced as well. I like the rugged yet still simplistic look. Though I do have a small problem I'd say to better space the Provence names in relation to town names. I know that back in the old days of cartography it was how they did it but a little bit of cleanup wouldn't hurt. I also would recommend using the 3 layer technique where the base is the paper texture then do a combination of 50% additive layer and 50% colour burn, makes the image come out quite nicely. I'm no cartography genius so who am I to talk? I think that this is something that hasn't been done before so I strongly believe you should do more maps. In the end I'm just a nerd sitting behind his computer drooling over cartography so my opinion isn't very professional. I'd love to see more of your work!

great piece of work. Only one question, why did you leave out Lanka ? (present day Sri Lanka)

Hmm that's a good question. I never thought about this before, I guess I left out Lanka unconsciously. But if I think about it, I think it's because I made this map more from a historical perspective. And Lanka (in my mind) is associated with The Ramayana, which I subconsciously link more with mythology and religion than with history.
