Description I carved these turtles in sand during the Capital Exhibition in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, July 2009.

A tribute to Dr.Seuss.

That's cool. Is interesting you say 'carved'... do you work from a larger piece and take away sand or is more a building up process? The results of your work alway look like you had fun

I build a hollow box and fill it with sand and water then I compact it. When I remove the forms, I have a bix sand block to carve from, I can add as I go with wet sand, but the compacted sand is stronger and holds details.

wow that so interesting!!! I was wondering how you were able to make all these seemingly impossible sand sculptures
