I know exactly what you mean! That's why I made some super-basic ones. I was sick of having to learn the basics by myself, so I want to give people a starting point.

Which version of photoshop are you using? I have CS2 and can't find the covert option so I'm assuming it's in a different version. I'm hoping if it's a newer version they have backwards compatibilty otherwise I won't be able to use lens-correction in some actions I was planning to provide

I've got CS2 as well. If you select a layer and click on the Filter menu, it's the second from the top. If you still can't find it, let me know and I'll take a close screenshot for you.

Hmm, it just has last filter, extract then filter gallery :\ I wonder if maybe in a different image mode the options change. I know that in Lab Colour half the filters get greyed out.

Nope, that's not there on mine. You're using mac right? I wonder if the windows and osx versions are different on this. I researched it and apparently you have to convert before apply filters to smart objects. Even when I made a smart object nothing appeared in the menu, but when I tried to apply a filter it brought up a dialog asking me to convert. Hopefully that'll be good enough for my actions I doubt if anyone uses my actions they'll be apply them to smart actions anyway
Thanks for the help on this

Yeah, I'm on a Mac.
Try making the action like that, then using it on a different sized/oriented picture and see if it works.
