Description Alfa Romeo, long known for bringing that special Italian style to its automotive offering, seemed destined to have another hit on its hands when it debuted the new 147 at the 2000 Turin Motor Show. This replacement for the 145 and 146, which Entering production for the 2001 model year, it possessed striking looks and proved to be a strong seller throughout Europe, winning the prestigious 2001 European Car of the Year award along the way. It shares a platform with the Alfa Romeo 156, and is commercially positioned among the high-end models in its segment, such as the Audi A3, BMW 1 Series and Volvo C30.

The 147 was available with two four-cylinder gasoline engines, one with a 1.6-liter Twin Spark displacement and 105 or 120 HP of maximum power and a 2.0-liter with 150 HP of power, a 3.2-liter V-six gasoline engine displacement and 250 HP of power, sold incorporating manual and automatic gearboxes with five and six speeds. Between 2002 and 2004, the most powerful version was on sale, a 3.2 V6 with 250 hp, with a top speed of 246 km/h.

In the top-of-the-range finish, it had a multifunction screen for the GPS navigator, a sound system developed by BOSE, automatic speed control, xenon headlights and adaptations for mobile phone use, such as Bluetooth. As safety equipment, it incorporated six airbags, traction control, stability control, ABS and MSR, Torsen type front self-locking differential (Q2) or Selespeed sequential transmission (adopted from the Alfa Romeo 156).

In 2004, the 147 received a minor facelift by Italdesign. In addition, the 2.0 Twin Spark, the most popular Alfa 147 model, also received an upgraded suspension. The Twin Spark used two spark plugs per cylinder, and when paired with a variable intake system, the 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine produced 148 horsepower. Thanks to new technology, this engine had an excellent combustion character that resulted in a very flexible power output, producing maximum torque at just 2000 rpm. As for the exterior, it receives a renewed front part, with more aggressive and sharp headlights and a larger front grille.

In 2005, the "Ti" model designation, which had traditionally adorned the company's high-profile sports cars, was added to the 2.0 Twin Spark. This Ti's suspension was specially tuned to improve handling and featured new gauges that set it apart from the standard Twin Spark model, exciting enthusiasts across Europe.

It was on sale successfully for a long time until 2010, when it was finally said goodbye, its successor being the Giulietta.

We move on from talking about Fiat cars, now to its Italian counterpart: Alfa Romeo. It's been a while since I talked about this brand, since the last time was with the Giulia TZ2 , last year. And now that I realize, no one is interested in this company like they were years ago, so I dedicated myself to the task of writing the history of one of their vehicles. And taking advantage of the fact that I was starting Gran Turismo 5 again, I bought this vehicle to start my game.

It is front-wheel drive, but it is very fun to drive, except if you turn it a lot in a curve. His design is one of the most beautiful I have seen, I am referring to his facelift from 20 years ago, since his previous design is somewhat basic without attracting attention. Without a doubt one of my favorite Alfa Romeo cars, which will remain in history as one of the cars of the day. And that this car was in my country.
