Awesome work! Cool Idea, love the textures. I think adding a dias underneath him would have literally lifted the image, added some height to him. As he stands now he'd fall over and smash to pieces!
You're lighting is really good too. Your render time on this image was all due to the background and floor, if you'd used a shader on them like you did for the object instead of their default diffuse maps, you'd have rendered this in about 30 minutes.
