It's prolly ridiculously pretentious of me, but I've come to view hand-treatment as one of the lines between the competent and the beginners. If you perceive hands in your imagery as a chance to subtly express something, you get it. If you view them as an awkward lump of visual noise best minimized or avoided altogether, you don't.

I do agree though, hands can be as expressive as someones facial expresions.
