Your title "Subtlety" implies that since the actual nudity isn't shown, that the meaning of her unmentionables around her ankles creates a "subtle" innuendo. My comment came from the male perspective in that even this subtle point can begin an engagement in courtship... that not much more would be needed.
It was actually an ironic statement, in fact.
