Hello this is a new picture i made for a book "Home Out of Dark Reasons" writtren by Alexis Flynn. It illustrates the chapter 2 of the story. I was asked to work in black and white and put just a detail in colour to give a key element of the story.Material : Pencil, ink and Photoshop

Voici une image réalisée pour le chapitre 2 du roman "Home out of Dark Reasons"écrit par Alexis Flynn. On m'a demandé de travailler en noir et blanc et de mettre juste un détail en couleur pour faire ressortir un élément clef du chapitre.

The details are beautiful! I especially love the lamps hanging from the ceiling and the swiriling patterns here and there.

Celle-là est tout simplement géniale ! Je trouve que le noir et blanc va super bien avec ton style de dessin et ici on croirait un métissage du genre Sin City burtonien (mais en plus horrifique) qui va bien au délà du simple pastiche. Et la verticalité de la scène la rend encore plus esthétique, je suis fan *w*

A Critical View:
I love the dark gloomy atmosphere. The archway the tables, the chairs, everything really, has that incredible gnarled look that you excel so well at doing. The tables and chairs are interesting to look at and I really like how they are placed so asymmetrically on one side of the room. Everything is so rich in that scratchy detailing that I like so much in your style and the red you included serves to highlight this very well.
I find it interesting that the lights you include don't seem to be the light source for the piece. They are in the place that the light source is from, but the light that is cast on the room looks like it's being cast from one big light source, not the numerous little sources that you indicate with the lamps hanging from the ceiling. I like how unsettling that is.
I also like how the red, set into such a dark piece, almost seems to glow and radiate it's own ominous light.
Excellent job on this one. As always, I look forward to seeing more from you in the future.
