Description Yesterday I made two pies;
the first had a shaft drilled from both ends hammered into a block acting as the bowl, which I tried to carve a bear-man face on but the wood's pretty flakey for chiseling. I consider it pretty crude.
I then made a pipe from one piece of wood, but it's very large, and very chunky. I used a soldering iron to put a symbol and date on the underneath.

This morning, to better these two efforts, I made a smaller one from a single piece, this time shaping it beyond blockyness

This is the result. It's well shaped, and the small bowl gives a better taste to the baccy (standard packet of st.bruno) as well as a more convenient duration. it's similar in size to my very dear first pipe, "Herbivore" who I left somewhere recently, maybe motivating me to make replacements as I'm not fond of the larger one from ebay.

The stem length could be longer, but is limited to the length of the dril bit which are generally shorter as they get smaller, I can only come from one side in a pipe made from one piece rather than separate shaft, so this is virtually the limit.

All of them are made from old small fenceposts knocking around the garage, and with the few tools I can find... generally a tenon saw for the length of fence post, a power drill for holes (using a ceramic-boring extension for the wider ones once pilots are drilled), and then it's up to a rasp [link] for the shaping.

I've been smoking a pipe almost exactly a year now compared to only a few months fags, or more recently rollies, and this one smokes well.

I'm hoping the wood, not something as fitting as cherry etc... will work out after extended use, seems fire-proof enough so far.

Third time lucky?

PS Sorry for photo quality, taken with built-in isight webcam
I have big hands; it really is small.

This one has made me consider rasping away at the second pipe to give it more form, at the moment it's quite a balance of angular blockinees and curved edges.
