Description White spots in a pattern, and also a quick game (very quick) of 'spot the photographer' can be played. Having taken the photo, I don't know how hard it is to see what it is, my Dad had to be told It probably differs, I don't know. just in case, the item's name is lower down in the 'description'.
This is my very first photo for the sake of intereesting layout/aesthetics, every other photo has been on a disposable camera or similar during holidays, or social gatherings, the usual snap-shot places. Therefore I need to know if I put it in the right category (abstract rather than still-life for example?), and I am very very very open to your criticisms.

I might mention it has been cropped too, it was still centred fine in the original, but in a rectangle rather than a square, which I thought would suit the circle better. Just in case the info's useful for your critting like "should have left it uncrpopoped etc..."

It's the family camera, so nothing snazzy... a sony "Cybershot" or cybersomething, with 'macro' switched on. No editting other than levels & saturation. (& Cropping!)

Many thanks, I hope I can make a rather fun hobby of photography, I'll need your help if you want the results to look nice though!

Oh yes..... "Sugar shaker".

EDIT: By the way... I said "no" to the prints option because I can't imagine anyone wanting something like this on their wall, if somehow opinion states otherwise, do tell me!

I like how he finger breaks the symetry, i was sure it was a "salt shaker" so i was wrong...
oh by the way mr John if u want an item without reflections what u gotta do is building a little house with paper sheets and making a hole just for ur lens to fit, and there u are no reflecs!

I don't know how I'd do that resource-wise, but thank you very much Gvbbo! Salt-shaker/sugar-shaker... the only difference is what you put them on. Thanks!

hhee that was d point ,,, and well doing it is easy, just make a box-like thing with paper (white) and make a hole of the size of ur lens 2 put it on,and there!... hhehee...

I don't know if I have the sort of light that could fit in a box though.

in that case u can make another hole to fit a bulb or a hand-light... just experiment

Thanks for the common sense Gvboo, please bear with my lack of it! I'll try it the next shot.

hehe, NM... the thing is that a sheet of paper lets some light get in, so maybe u wont need the extra hole, another thing u can do is build the box without a ceiling and u use a table lamp...mmm this is gonna be more descriptive:

i had to use some 3d software and a triple proccesor just for the light effect, the font is the only thing PS is capable of doing in this piece,

Though "spot the photographer" was a fun game to play, I think it might've looked a little better without your reflection. But I do love the perspective...quite creative!

Keep up the photography...I'd love to see more.

I totally agree it's worth trying not to get reflection in the future (thanks to Gvbbo I know how now), despite it's cut-downs on travel-games. Thanks!

i wouldn't have figured out what it was either.....

but neverthe less, great angle.......and i'm surprised at the amount of reflection in it also

really like to see you get better at photography too....i'm sure you'd come up with some interesting stuff.....

I was surprised at how much was reflected too, thanks for the good wishes, I'll be trying!

Out of interest - do you think it would have been better if it hadn't reflected me? And just been chrmoe or plain? If so do you know how I'd do that?

how you would do it.......i'd assume with a zoom lense.....but i don't know.....maybe you can ask one of the 'stock photographers' around d a

(i'm such a mean sarcastic ass aren't i?)

First line:
Nor me for that matter!

Second line:
As it's macro I had to be close, so... leaving it on a timer suspended parallel with the ground maybe, but that'd leave the camera... I'll keep asking around.

Third line:
I don't notice it, I just like your posts in general, if the sarcasm does get over the top (rarely, usually pretty justified with righteous angst) then it's humorous.

I don't think I've had a problem yet with what you type Zimm, so long as you keep typing it's good.... were this not concernig online communication, that was nearly a Floyd song again.... for thousand of years, mankind........ just make sure we keep talking.... and all that jazz.

Cool! I wouldn't have guessed what it was. You might not think the cam's snazzy but it definitely takes nice macro shots.

Sergeantpepper In reply to Interference [2005-06-28 19:31:29 +0000 UTC]

I certainly didn't mean I wasn't content with it, but that I wouldn't know any of its specs and that I hadn't invested in one of those expensive ones. The 7 megapixels is incredible to me as the last family camera was chosen partly for how compact it was, but mostly as it had a whole 3 megapixels! The image is at 25% of the original, the curent camera has quite a sizeable preview screen, and you can zoom in on taken images on it, I was delighted to see how far I could zoom in, so that it showed all the tiniest scratches.... keeping the size of the image file for people to load, and their monitor sizes in mind, I chose to make it a little smaller

Interesting you wouldn't have guessed, really fun to hear!

Glad you condone it as 'cool' Interference! Or Fantasm? Or...? Unless you're fine with it I feel a little odd thanking you via your screen/user name

Well ... you could always call me Your Majesty or Mistress but Anna's fine, too.

Sounds like a nice cam. I can only imagine the detail in the original image. I think the detail in this one is very good. I can see dings and scratches in the metal, etc.

The reason I wouldn't have guessed is that I thought the shadow below it was actually part of it but further away and therefore out of focus. Oh yeah... and then there's the IQ issue be we won't go into that.

Sergeantpepper In reply to Interference [2005-06-29 07:06:18 +0000 UTC]

If you wish it so Your Majesty, then we shan't. I'm very fond of the camera, the detail is very satisfying after the camera which was sharp as a pillow!
