This is part II from my previous piece also called Wayfaring Stranger. You can check it out at this [link]

--------------------------------
Inspired by : Wayfaring Stranger - Jack White

" I am a poor wayfaring stranger
Travelling through this world of woe
There is no sickness, toil or danger
In that fairy land to which I go

I'm going home to see my mother
I'm going home no more to roam
I am just going over Jordan
I am just going over home"

This time, the stranger reached a city at night, is he finally home or will he have to keep searching?

----------------------------------

I noticed that my deviations need some perspective, they are all usually too flat, so i thought I would use perspective to my advantage, like making the city look out of shape and distorted.
I am really fucking happy with this one. Again, drew the whole thing from scratch, didnt even use any single reference picture. Last night I was banging my head against the wall cause I wanted to create something, but I just couldn't. No inspiration. Than, at around 12am it hit me with a lighting, so I strated this and finished it today, all in all around 6 hours.

Tools: Photoshop CS, Tablet, my head.

Wow, a whole new style, I'm impressed! I love the perspective and the light effects, this is a very good composition. The esaggerated moon and star fit perfectly with the style and so do the colours, although I wonder if the red lights on the bridge might not look like more meaningful than they are – I mean they look like they're saying something as part of the story, because they're the only really "hot" detail in the picture. Maybe there's no need to remove them, just balancing them out with similar lights at the tops of the buildings would dilute their prominence.
The character works well enough because the composition lines lead the eye where it can find it. I wonder about two optional improvements: harmonising him with the stylised illustration style more (but that might create lack of consistency with the first in the series), and/or making him darker so he'd stand out more strongly (but the fog effect would be lost). Maybe they wouldn't improve the piece at all but I thought I'd mention them.
Oh one more tiny remark: the lights on the bridge are all sharp, but the buildings' are all smudged (while the buildings are not out of focus). It would be more consistent to have them all as one or the other -- personally I find the sharpness appealing with this style, and the red lights can have their halo just like they do now – the contrast looks great. Or the buildings can be slightly blurred to "explain" the lights being smudged.
Being very nitpicky but this looks awesome

Ooh... my gosh that is pretty. The sky is spectacular, that it is. If I had not full-viewed, I'm not sure I would have noticed the little man. This is a great, great work and a masterpiece of persepective. *nod nod* I shall fav it, for you greatly deserve it.

well done! I do think this is my favourite deviation of yours, ever. (didn't I say that to the first part of this series? and the halloween manip.. oh well.)

I see others have mentioned the stars being too sparkly, so no need to repeat.

also the reflection of the man is off - a water reflection should be symmetric to the object casting it.

The best part for me is the bridge, it looks beautiful The buildings don't really fit with the style of the rest of the image, I feel they would fit better if they weren't so cartoony and bent.

i really really like it!

by the way. I looked at this at my friend's place, and he LOVED it. He's now using it as his wallpaper I told him not to mass-distribute it.

(didn't I say that to the first part of this series? and the halloween manip.. oh well.)

well it's great than, because that means that with each one, I am getting better, not regressing

well, for the city, I was trying for a sureal look, rathen than a cartoonish one... I guess I am still in my learning process, so i'll get my point across in time

thanks for the comment man, am glad your friend loved it that's the whole point!

Sergio, you certainly have a way of making things turn out perfect.

The whole scene is utterly amazing! I do agree, however that there are a few too many stars.
The trees, the shadows, the reflections, the buildings, the lights, the bridge... they're all wonderfully done, and I most definitely congratulate you for working from scratch.

Love ya Sergio

This one is soooo beautiful. I love the other version, but this one just blows me away cause it's night time. I'm such a night person. I like what you've done with the perspective and the curved buildings...they look big and scary, but almost comforting at the same time cause they're leaning in to hug the world.
