Sonnet of the Golden TicklefeatherJust one small touch as everything begins
And all your fibres feel impending fate
New-wakened nerves recline on sharpened pins
Each motion gentle makes its impact great
And soon you find you cannot hold it back
Undo effects of soft but deadly touch
Small movements pack a powerful attack
Too soon you feel them penetrate too much
Each impulse drains your sturdy self-control
Now fragile as you gladly watch it go
End happy and embrace your yielding role
May all of your estate esteem it so
Much-conquered soles exceed your wish by half
And seal your fond accord with cheerful laugh.

You are correct. It is a puzzle. The poem and puzzle were composed to be part of a project that started last year. It may or may not fall through.

It's going to be worked into an upcoming project, so that I can't reveal too much just now. It's tough to devise a reasonable clue about how to get to the centre of it all that won't make it too obvious; it's the sort of thing you might just suddenly see, but thinking hard about it is unlikely to help. If you do work it out, please don't give it away to the general public.
