That's on hell of a program you're running there. Good luck with this one, whoever it is.

So you have the basic sketch and you scan that in and then you use the pen tool over the sketch?

Yup, that's my work procedure. Only difference is I'm back to my black graphite pencil, as I usually like
my red or blue Col-erase pencils for rendering the initial sketch...
Consider the sketch as a general template, I usually end up tweaking the hell out of the finished pic so it's more of a guide to help me

How'd you use the pen tool anyway?
For a long time I"ve been trying to get my work to look as clean as some of the other artists, especially yours but it never seems to get there because I manually ink my drawings and then scan them in.

Which is a perfectly acceptable way, I used to do the same in Photoshop... however, Illustrator is vector-based, thus the crisp lines.
You can achieve the same effect in Photoshop using the pen tool, once you make the "path", you have the option of using brushes, fills, etc. There's TONS of tutorials out there on PS, why don't you go to Barnes and Nobles and check out the art book, sometimes, just a paragraph is enough to clarify...
Good luck!

judging by the color of the Back Hair its Erin.
Real nice to see you taking some risks with the hair length, etc. If you take no risks with this you might as well cut/paste her head from a Ghostbot wallpaper.
Glad to see sftoon re-energized.

I'm not sure who this is, even with the clue. And that doesn't bother me in the least.

Nope. Hair's too long and wrong style. Unless maybe it's the 50's Erin from the Yellow Submarine/monster one, but I doubt it.
EDIT: I'll be daft. it says it right there, doesn't it?
