The angle is fine, but the picture quality is a little bit bad, so may you take a second try as your equipment has more potential for quality.
Try it with those settings in Manual mode:
Turn down the aperture to f3.5
Keep the ISO of 100
Increase the distance to the object and try to use a focal length between 32 and 55mm
Play with the shutter speed, faster will be better, at last take care that the picture get not too dark.
Switch to manual focus (MF) and try to get the eye of the whale as sharp as possible.
So you will get success...
