Description
Meet Stephanie Pierce, a new character that will be introduced as a love interest in Racks View. Not going to give anything away other than she is a model that moves into town and sweeps one of the permanent characters off their feet and into her arms. Now enough with that I am not really happy with how this one turned out, but I thought I would show that I am still "Futzing" around with reality. The lighting is really different and I guess I will get it figured out one day. Guess all the images we make can great ones.Related content

Boobs too pointy, and are those dirt rims on those tires? Usually the GT-R is a race track car.
With what have you rendered this?

ShadowhawkOne In reply to RiseundShine [2013-06-26 13:23:18 +0000 UTC]
This was rendered in Lux via the Reality 3 plugin for Poser Pro 2014. No those are not dirt rims on those tires, and you are right the GT-R is a street car. As far as her boobs being pointy that is a matter of personal opinion, I happen to think they are just fine.

Yeah I was surprised to see it there as well after I finished the render, I sure don't remember seeing it when I was putting the image together!

Looking real good sir. Too bad you don't have the eye thing in poser that DAZ has, she just looks like she's looking a bit off from the camera, or is that on purpose.

ShadowhawkOne In reply to MsThemis [2013-06-25 07:11:52 +0000 UTC]
Actually I did that on purpose, but yes you are right I wish that Poser had that feature as well. I wanted her to look in the direction of the camera just not right at it.

Thanks Steve, it took forever to covert all the materials, I kept forgetting one or two then I would have to stop it and fix and restart....I don't even want to go into the window glass part of it.....

Excellent Yah, Reality has been kind of squirrelly. Just figured out its the cause of poser crashing when I load certain props... accesses the python scripts in a strange way. So, it's on hold for me now... will try it again when I upgrade to Poser Pro 2014. In the meantime I'll just enjoy it's successful renders vicariously through you

I didn't have a problem in 1012 or 2014, my issues are stemming more from the lack of time to devote to it in order to learn it better. It is an amazing render engine and something I am hoping to use more once I get more free time.

Cool It's sad to think so but my machine is probably getting near the edge of too old for certain things. Until I can upgrade I'll keep an eye on what others do and hopefully learn a few things

I would say that if you can run Poser Pro 2012 you can run Poser Pro 2014 with the exception of the new fitting room and soft body dynamics and the new ability to stack shader nodes it is close to the same program. The upgrades to the render engine are really awesome and shave time of rendering. With Reality/Lux a big factor is the number of processors you have. I have an i7 so it goes pretty smooth but renders can still take upwards of a day.

That's good to know about Poser... I didn't really expect any issues there. I've just got a single dual (single dual? ) processor and minimum RAM. I can upgrade RAM easily enough, but I need to find the sweet spot for my machine. There's a level of memory that's optimal and there's no appreciable increase past that so no need to get more than that.
What I really need to do is obtain a windfall of money and get the new Mac Pro that's coming out later this summer. Oh Momma that is going to be such a powerhouse! Oh well... in the meantime mine is working great for what I'm doing. I'll save the fancy stuff for later

NICELabs In reply to ShadowhawkOne [2013-06-25 20:56:20 +0000 UTC]
Everything has strengths and weaknesses and I don't use PCs so I won't comment on any specific 'better thans'. What I do know is they are very stable, intuitive to use, no surprises, no headaches... no viruses. For me it just works great the first time. Plus with dual core intel chips if I need to I could use Boot Camp and start up as a PC (no emulation) Both systems can run on the same machine.

Yeah I kind of see things the same way, I have heard good and bad for both PC/Mac and to me I like a PC and wouldn't mind trying a Mac but I don't hold any preconceived notions either way towards them...Hell I have enough apple gadgets as is what is one more?

true true. I've got a 2TB external for my mini where I keep all my art files and installers and such.... and it's already almost half full... My machine will give good service for a good long while yet, though I need to get a more modern OS for it and possibly up the ram. I am really lusting after the new Mac Pro that's due to come out later this year, but unless I get creative I'm sure it'll be outside my price range.

No, it was figuring it out that was the pain in the ass! LOL! That's why I've temporarily given up trying to figure out Luxus, and LuxRender, until I have more of a handle on standard Studio lights.

ShadowhawkOne In reply to nvoracle [2013-06-22 03:05:36 +0000 UTC]
DS and Lux use two different lighting styles. So I am not sure that by holding off on one it will help you with the other. The best person to ask about that is Paul he will be able to point you in the right direction or porvide you with some assistance.

nvoracle In reply to ShadowhawkOne [2013-06-22 16:50:59 +0000 UTC]
Sorry about that. All I meant was that Lux is so much more complicated that the standard Studio lights that, if I had this much difficulty figuring out the Studio lights, then the LuxRender lights are going to be so completely beyond me. I'm getting a handle on the Studio lights, though, so maybe I might have a chance. LOL.
When I think I might be ready, I was going to ask Paul about it.

Sorry, please forgive my grouchiness, I wasn't meaning that to sound harsh, I was just trying to say that I thought I was getting a handle on Poser lighting and Lux lighting is nothing like it. I had someone tell me (can't remember who now) that LUX was actually easier but we have learned so many bad habits from DS and Poser lights it is more difficult to learn now. I guess what I was wanting to say is get some books on photography lighting when you are ready to learn LUX I have been told they are very similar.

No worries, my friend. I could have been the one who is sounding a little grumpy. Sorry about that. I think what it is, is that, like you, someone (I don't remember who) has told me that Lux lights act more like they do in the real world, whereas with Studio, or Poser lights, they don't, and real world physics has to be 'faked' with them. I have basic 'beginner' experience with photography, so I have done some work with lights, and all of that, but my knowledge is limited somewhat.
One thing I needed to do, was to work on light placement, and all of that (color will come eventually, I think). Even though I had the photography and art background, lights in Studio have always left me scratching my head, and I was in dire need of some serious help. Luckily that has come along, and some of the confusion seems to be ironing itself out.

The lighting isn't too bad and has a sort of a late afternoon, sun going down look to it, if anything it draws your eyes more towards the woman in red

Thanks I appreciate the comment, I was going for the late afternoon feel but the reality lighting I used washed out the blue sky background. Glad you found the eye candy to your liking. I may have to strip her down and put her on the hood.
