Description Alright, explanation time.

I just want to say right now, that when Mega Evolutions were revealed, I LOVED them. Alright? I freaking loved them. The second I saw them, I thought it was a brilliant idea! New forms for older pokemon, to potentially make them great and better. When this idea clicked, I figured it was because they were going to improve Pokemon that desperately needed a boost. Pokemon like Dunsparce, Farfetch'd and other ones that people fear using due to their single evolution, and near worthlessness in stats, moves and abilities. Those pokemon could have MASSIVELY benefited from a Mega Evolution.

Once the games came out, the official list of Mega Evolutions was revealed; they are, as follows:

- Mega Venasaur - Mega Charizard X - Mega Charizard Y - Mega Blastoise - Mega Alakazam - Mega Gengar - Mega Kangaskhan - Mega Pinsir - Mega Gyarados - Mega Aerodactyl - Mega Mewtwo X - Mega Mewtwo Y - Mega Ampharos - Mega Scizor - Mega Heracross - Mega Houndoom - Mega Tyranitar - Mega Blaziken - Mega Gardevoir - Mega Mawile - Mega Aggron - Mega Medicham - Mega Manectric - Mega Banette - Mega Absol - Mega Garchomp - Mega Lucario and Mega Abomasnow.

Suddenly, my opinion of Mega Evolutions went DOWN massively. Not only do Mega Evolutions focus almost entirely around Pokemon that EVERYONE uses, barely any of them benefit Pokemon that NEEDED a buff. The only ones that got a buff that really needed it in my opinion, were Kangaskhan, Pinsir, Heracross, Mawile, and Absol. All the others were perfectly fine the way they were, and hardly needed a buff; Especially Mewtwo, who now feels broken as hell.

Another thing I would like to address with Mega Evolutions. There is literally NO PUNISHMENT for using them. Seriously, NONE. Once you get a Mega Evolution (You can get three during the main quest; Kanto Starters are given to you, Mega Lucario is given to you, and you can get Mega Gengar's Gengarnite fairly early on). and once you get them, you might as well use them for the rest of the game. During battle, you can activate a Mega Form anytime for a change of ability (Almost ALWAYS for a benefit) and instantly change. You don't forfeit a turn for Mega Evolution, you get a massive power upgrade, so what's stopping you from doing it?

The only balance on Mega Evo is the fact that you can only choose one of them, but who the hell cares if you are limited to one? Mega Evos are so damn strong; that you literally only need one.

Now, this is my current standing on Mega Evolutions for now; MAYBE in future generations my opinion of it will change, ASSUMING Nintendo decides to give Pokemon that Deserve a benefit Mega Evolutions. I would honestly like to use Pokemon I've never used before with a twist. I mean come on; there are so many Smeargle users in Kalos; maybe Smeargle deserved a Mega Evo guys? How about Dunsparce? Or Corsola? Or Tauros? There are a lot of single Form pokemon that could use an upgrade.

Also, in regards to the Raichu/Pikachu in the background, though this is not confirmed, Pikachu is apparently going to get a surprise in the anime. I will change this later on, once it's revealed, but Pikachu had BETTER not get a Mega Evolution. They are reserved for fully evolved pokemon, and mascot or not, breaking the rule just for that would not only invalidate Raichu, but completely give it the shaft too. Pikachu already has a unique item to make it stronger, I think Raichu could use a boost more than Pikachu.

Remember please: THIS IS JUST MY OPINION RIGHT NOW, IT IS ENTIRELY POSSIBLE THAT I MAY CHANGE MY OPINION DRASTICALLY LATER DOWN THE ROAD. I still think Mega Evolution has promise, but it's only in it's infancy now, and it badly needs some balancing. There needs to be a Punishment for Mega Evolving (Like wasting the turn you evolve). As it stands, there is literally NO reason not to Mega Evolve. I don't hate Mega Forms, I just think it needs to be rebalanced.

why do you think when we battled I never used Mega Evolution because other than you not having any Mega Evolution pokemon, I knew how much you hate Mega Evolution; and especially how you hate how many of the popular Pokemon got Mega Evolution; like Lucario and Charizard

I just find that it's imbalanced right now. I started using Mega Gengar and Mega Medicham, and they are so broken that I honestly feel bad using them. There are no negatives to using a Mega Evolution, and that makes it way to easy to abuse.

I don't use the Mega evolution all the time like everyone probably does, I only use Mega Charizard whenever i need to use Solar Beam which is once in a blue moon

There is literally no reason not too though. It gives you an automatic advantage.

the only advantage Mega Charizard Y gives is the ability to make fire type moves and insta hit Solar Beam, you can still one Shot Mega Charizard Y  with a rock type move

Drought gives Fire attacks extra damage as well, as I seem to recall; Charizard is a Fire Type.
